Espionage trip
Ron
Not a critism, as such, but a reminder.
The Longhouse looks new as they are still building it, but even that look very
'earthy' and 'natural' compared with most modern houses. The rest of the
buildings I would say, having been there look well used (as they are for lots of
re-enactment event, school parties, story-tellings, and pagan events); but you
also have to remember that all these building types when built in their original
times would have looked 'new'! People didn't build 'old' looking buildings, or
make 'old' looking pots, or whatever. And most of these buildings using large
amounts of wood and thatch and earth and wattle and daub would have needed
constant patching and re-thatching, rotten timber replacement, etc., and most
would have needed re-building after about 30 years.
