Magical Alder Weekend.   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #446 of 3603 |
Well it's Sunday night another camp weekend over but what a weekend!
We were low in numbers but we achieved a lot, more sleeping space
completed in our meeting space, superb party Saturday night. Now the
Alder bit, on Saturday afternoon we planted the Alder Tree's and the
hole was dug for todays stone raiseing. The stone choosen was duly
loaded by manpower onto the sledge but alas we were not strong
enought to pull the sled (too few in numbers hint hint), the landie
just spun so machical power had to be used (My trusty old Digger) to
pull the sled to the circle then back to man/woman power. Our
choosen stone with a little help just rolled into the hole and using
Dave's trusty A-Frame we hauled our stone into a vertical position
and then dedicated it to ''The Alder Tree'' and welcomed it into our
circle. We buried a small Branch of Alder under the stone. Now for
the magical bit, the stone choose it's own position and on the face
of the stone facing into the circle you can see the out line of 2
letter's SC for ''Sentry Circle'' magical or what!!
For those of you who do not know what the meaning of the Alder is
here it is.
Alder (Fearn) - The Alder is very happy in water and so is symbolic
of emotional strength. The durability of its wood also links it to
steadfastness and staying power. Its wood was used to make boats and
so it is also linked to crossing the abyss - i.e. over-coming
seemingly insurmountable obstacles. 20 yards away from where the
Alder Stone stands is a spring so there is water at the top of the
hill.
Thank you all who came this weekend and thank you all again for the
book and all your comments written inside, very moving for me.

Take care, travell with Love, enjoy life.

Derek (Madfarmer)

P.S. Can't spell so hope you all understand my simple english.
