The RAYNET Body (The Radio Amateurs’ Emergency Network) is the UK’s national voluntary communications service provided for the community by licensed radio amateurs.
Raynet delivers highly skilled and trained radio operators, quality & wide ranging equipment, offers communication & message handling facilities to User Services (Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Coastguard, Mountain Rescue, etc) in emergencies and disasters.
Shropshire Raynet was established many years ago to provide Emergency and Non-Emergency communications for the benefit of the local community. It has come a long way in that time. The group is made up of around 45 members from the county and also some valuable members from outside of the catchment not to mention the support we get and offer to neighbouring groups.
Within The Area, we provide communications and message handling in non-emergency events such as Fun Runs, Hill/Fell Walking, Long Distance walks, Bike Rides, carnivals etc, where organisers have unreliable/non-existent communication.
The aim of the Yahoo group is to facilitate efficient, effective and timeous inter-group communications, via e-mail and electronic files.
