As the article below, from www.shropshirestar.co.uk, shows hunts have enjoyed
their last weekend of legal foxhunting and are preparing to push the law to its
limits.
We must ensure that the moment they cross that line, they do the time. For
years hunters have terrorised our communities, they are terrorising our
politicians and now they plan to go against the democratic will of the majority.
Monitoring the hunt on upcoming weekends and week days will not be difficuilt -
unlike previous monitors we will not need to be right up in the field, we can
get the evidence we need from a distance. But we will need numbers, and more
than ever before. If you can spare next weekend, for a few hours, please,
please let us know.
Let's put these hunters out of business!
We will take laws to limits, vow hunts
By Ben Godsal and Craig MacFarlane
Members of Shropshire hunts have vowed to stretch controversial new laws
to their limits when legislation to ban the sport is introduced next week.
Wheatland Hunt master Myles Salmon says the hunt will meet
next week.
Law lords are currently considering an appeal against a ban on hunting
lodged by Countryside Alliance campaigners.
If they are unsuccessful, hunting with dogs will be banned in England and
Wales on Friday.
But Shropshire huntsmen say they will be out in force next weekend
whatever the result of the appeal.
Myles Salmon, Master of Wheatland Hunt near Bridgnorth, said some form of
meet would be held next Saturday - but would operate within the law.
He said: "We do not want to break the law but we are prepared to stretch
it to its limits. We will be meeting on Saturday."
Flushing - an activity associated with hunting in which two hounds flush
out a fox to be shot - is one associated activity which the hunt could consider,
he said.
Meanwhile members of the Ludlow Hunt today promised they would not hide.
