In This Viva!City: The Gift of Life

You Did it For the Ducks - Again!

Viva!'s Veggie Christmas Bonanza!
Veggie Health & Slimming Show in Leeds

It's on the Label!
Your Viva!City

The Gift of Life!

Viva! has teamed up with the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation (VVF) and Farm Animal
Sanctuary in Evesham, Worcestershire, to offer a unique Christmas gift.

Our brand new Adopt a Farm Animal scheme gives you the chance to give one (or
more!) of eight adorable rescued farm animals the gift of life, for a minimum
donation of £18 a year (or £2 a month by standing order). Choose from: Bluebell
the pig, Buttercup the cow, Timmy the pony, Musky the duck, Gloria the chicken,
ET the sheep, Pauline the goose and Stan the turkey.

Half of your donation is given directly to Farm Animal Sanctuary, an 80 acre
haven for farmed animals saved from slaughter, to help care for your adoptee.
You'll receive two updates over the year as well as a photo and a certificate!
The other half of your donation is divided between Viva! and the VVF, whose
endless campaigns mean you're helping save even more lives - animal and human!

For more information, go to: www.adoptafarmanimal.org.uk
<http://www.adoptafarmanimal.org.uk/> or call 0117 944 1000.

You Did it For the Ducks - Again!

Thanks to our indefatigable supporters, many more people are swearing off duck
meat after another highly successful Days of Action for ducks on November 11.
With hundreds of people taking part in town and city centres across Britain, the
sad tale of Jake the little jailbird brought home the cruelty found in our
factory farms - where ducks are routinely denied access to the outside and water
for swimming.

Click here <http://www.viva.org.uk/campaigns/ducks/doa.html> to find out more
about the day - and to find out how it's already resulted in real welfare
improvements.

The Veggie Health & Slimming Show is Coming to Leeds!

Viva!'s sister group, the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation (VVF) is launching its
Globesity campaign on Saturday, 2 December 2006 with the first ever Veggie
Health & Slimming Show, in Leeds. Why not bring friends and family and join them
for an inspirational day out?

There will be a range of exciting talks, workshops and cookery demonstrations on
offer as well as free food tastings, makeovers and a fashion show. There'll also
be stalls, providing a great opportunity to catch up with Christmas shopping,
plus a nutritionist and slimming coach on hand to answer any questions you may
have. Admission is only £2 and all visitors to the show will receive a free copy
of the VVF's colourful new 40-page V-Plan diet.

If you feel you can help distribute invites, posters or even help out on the day
itself (or at a promotional event at Leeds Corn Exchange on Friday, 24 November)
then the VVF would love to hear from you! We still need a third glamorous Veggie
Angel (mock-up of Charlie's Angels) available from 11am-1pm on Friday, 24
November. We also need models for the fashion show on Saturday, 2 December,
sizes 8-18. And have you lost weight or otherwise boosted your health by going
veggie - or know of someone who has? The VVF is looking for veggie Leeds locals
who'd make an interesting story for (and be happy to be interviewed by) the
Yorkshire press.

You can find out more about the show or send an online invite by following the
link below:-

This email alert reaches thousands of people but we'd like your help to make it
even better. At the moment we have just one list of addresses which means that
we have to send the same email to everyone. From time to time we'd like to let
people know about things happening in their area or get in contact with our
younger supporters but we don't want to fill everyone else's mailboxes with
information that isn't relevant to them. What we'd like to do is compile email
lists separated into different regions so that if we do have something we'd like
to tell people in Scotland or Yorkshire about, we can send them the information
without bothering anyone else.

The simplest way for us to identify which area you live in is to know your
postcode and so we'd be grateful if you could take a minute to fill in our
online questionnaire <http://www.timetogoveggie.com/emailconfirm01.php> . We'd
also really like to know your age if you're under 18 - you can fill in your date
of birth on the form. You won't receive any postal mailings (unless you want
them and fill in your other details) and the information will be used only to
sort your email addresses. You don't even have to give us your name if you don't
want to.

As ever, if you would like any more information about any of our campaigns,
check out our website www.viva.org.uk <http://www.viva.org.uk/> or get in touch
with us directly - contact details at the top of this email. Please don't click
"reply", however - your email won't be seen at that address.

Thanks again for all your support.

Note: Viva! does not forward emails from other sources or supply email addresses
to other organisations. The only emails you receive as a result of being on this
list come directly from us. Viva! has full and current virus protection.
