I would like to say how well the talk given by Dr. Peter Hunter was
received on Sunday 27th May. Obviously a passionate historian and
medicinal plant researcher, Dr. Hunter was most informative and had
put a lot of work into his talk.
I noticed how the first plant medicines against diseases from the
1700's were tried out on human patients, giving true indications of
efficacy or otherwise. Later on animals were used, and took us onto a
different path. I wonder what pharmaceutical routes would have been
discovered if humans had always been the recipients, and whether
animal mis-use could have been avoided.
