World Day 2004   Message List

Dear Supporters

Every day, 500 animals die at Huntingdon Life Sciences, Europe's largest
contract testing laboratory. Over the past few years HLS has gone from being a
powerful company to being a shell of an organisation, due to the massive
protests against it. Today, it kills animals only because the government insure
it and the Bank of England (again, your taxes) have loaned it money.

Last year, on World Day for Laboratory Animals, over 1,000 people went to
Cambridge to protest against this horrendous abuse of animals, human health, and
taxpayers money. This year, on April 17th 2004, we're hoping for double that.
But every person counts, so we need you.

We know Cambridge is a long way, but don't worry. Shropshire Animal Potection
are laying on transport. It is only £8 per person, which, when you consider
transport costs and coach hire is an absolute bargain! The coach will elave
Shrewsbury at around 9am and Telford around 9.30am

The day is always fun, and is suitable for the whole family. At the start, a
large marquee is errected in the centre of Cambridge containinhg stalls from
various animal & ethical groups from all over the country. Refreshments are
laid on for a very small charge. Generally, everyone mills around the stalls,
then watches a few speakers. Those who are able to then join a march through
Cambridge, which is always a loud but peacful affair. After this, there's a
chance to visit any stalls you missed, listen to more speakers or swap addresses
with the many new friends you may have made.

This is by far the most important demonstration of the year. Please tell your
friends, including those who wouldn't normally come on animal rights events.
While transport is often available last minute, Shropshire Animal Protection
need as much notice as possible, so they hire the best size of coach. If you
think you can go, please call Shropshire Animal Protection on 07904 375178 or
contact the SHAC campaign at 6 Boat Lane, Evesham, Worcestershire, WR11 4BP

I've attached the SAA flier for this event...you'll need Adobe Acrobat to read
it. Feel free to print and distribute it as widely as you can. Other local
fliers can also be obtained from Shropshire Animal Protection on the above
number, and national fliers from the SHAC campaign.

For all the animals, please, please be there.
