Dear Supporters
SAA campaigners recently received correspondence from the Punch Bowl, Ludlow
Road, Bridgnorth, stating that they are still hosting the Hunt Supper, at which
notrious bloodsports fanatic Barry Todhunter will be speaking. The statement
did confirm, however, that the hunt will make no profit from this event, and
that no money will go toward the killing of foxes.
The supper takes place on World Day For Laboratory Animals, and we are aware
that, hopefully, most of the people on this list will have attended the National
Demonstration in Cambridge the week before, and that many will have attended
that National Demonstration at Newchurch Farm earlier that day.
Because Newchurch Farm profit directly from animal killing, we feel that this
demonstration is far more important than campaigning outside an event which will
not directly finance the killing of foxes.
We have written to the Punch Bowl, expressing our total disgust that they still
intend to host the event, but stating that we are advising supporters not to
demonstrate. This way, we hope they will see the potential for the controversy
their hosting the event could have caused, but will equally feel that their
points have been taken into consideration. Of course, SAA is made up of
independent people, so if you wish to go ahead, the time still stands (6.30, The
Punch Bowl) We feel, however, that the days efforts would be far better placed
at Newchurch Farm. See www.guineapigs.org.uk for further information.
This is not the end of the matter! The Punch Bowl must realise that they have
made a grave error in choosing to host this event, and we must be certain they
will not host future events. Please continue to write and telephone the
establishment, where legally possible, asking them to cancel.
Thank you to our many supporters who did write to them. We hope their evening
is miserable, and that the only inspiration they get from Barry Todhunter is to
realise the error of their fox killing ways.
