The Incredible Veggie Show Hits London This Saturday!

It takes place at The Royal Horticultural Halls, Lawrence Hall & Conference Centre, Greycoat Street, from 10am – 6pm. Tickets are available on the door for just £4 (under 18s free!) It’s going to be fantastic day out, so come along! Click here for the full details.
Britain is Going Veggie!
Just in time for Viva!’s big Show –
some really good news. Each year the Government releases its agricultural
figures, and this time they make for some very positive reading. The latest
official statistics show that last year over 13 million fewer farmed land
animals were slaughtered in the UK than the year before. This is a growing
trend, with nearly 50 million fewer killed in 2008 than in 2005!

you can get involved to keep this a growing trend.
Viva! Launch Eat Green and Save Their World Websites
Check out our fantastic new websites, which have loads of ideas on how to ‘eat green’ and save animals. Also, take a look at our fab new animation which shows meat-eaters the simple way they could save wildlife by simply ditching the meat.
Find out more at www.eatgreen.org.uk and our biodiversity site www.savetheirworld.org.uk.
'Eat Green' Say Campaigners as Defra Study Shows UK Species Still in Decline
Pressure is being put on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) by Viva! to call for a drastic cut in meat consumption after it reported a continuing decline in biodiversity in the UK last week. We believe the only way Government targets to "significantly reduce the rate of species loss by 2010" will be met, is by halting the destruction of wildlife habitats through expanding farmland used for meat and dairy production. Click here for the full media release and visit Eat Green to get involved with our campaign to promote a veggie diet as the best way to safeguard our biodiversity.
Kangaroos Under Threat - Again
Despite having to contend with an almost decade-long drought, and the recent disastrous wildfires, kangaroos are still under threat. Please sign the following two petitions.
The first petition is calling for an end to the destruction of all of Australia's wildlife now!
The VVF Present Dr. Greger’s Latest in Nutrition Saturday, 27 June, 2009 Edmond J Safra Lecture Theatre, Strand Building, Strand Campus, Kings College, London, WC2R 2LS (1.15pm-5pm) Tickets £10 (+50p P&P)
Viva!’s sister organisation are excited to announce the only UK 2009 talk by world renowned speaker on nutrition (and more!) Dr. Michael Greger. He will be running an engaging new interactive quiz show format that lets us test our nutrition knowledge with some surprising outcomes. Dr. Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this brand-new talk of the latest in cutting-edge research. Focusing on studies published just over the last 3 years in peer-reviewed scientific nutrition journals, Dr. Greger offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic disease.

This email alert reaches thousands of people but we’d like your help to make it even better. At the moment we have just one list of addresses which means that we have to send the same email to everyone. From time to time we’d like to let people know about things happening in their area or get in contact with our younger supporters but we don’t want to fill everyone else’s mailboxes with information that isn’t relevant to them. What we’d like to do is compile email lists separated into different regions so that if we do have something we’d like to tell people in Scotland or Yorkshire about, we can send them the information without bothering anyone else.
The simplest way for us to identify which area you live in is to know your postcode and so we’d be grateful if you could take a minute to fill in our online questionnaire. We’d also really like to know your age if you’re under 18 – you can fill in your date of birth on the form. You won’t receive any postal mailings (unless you want them and fill in your other details) and the information will be used only to sort your email addresses. You don’t even have to give us your name if you don’t want to.
As ever, if you would like any more information about any of our campaigns, check out our website www.viva.org.uk or get in touch with us directly – contact details at the top of this email. Please don’t click “reply”, however – your email won’t be seen at that address.
Thanks again for all your support.
Note: Viva! does not forward emails from other sources or supply email addresses to other organisations. The only emails you receive as a result of being on this list come directly from us. Viva! has full and current virus protection.
