Dear All
If you've been in the shops of late you'll have noticed all the pretty yellow
chicks, gleefully astriding their milk chocolate eggs. Yup, it's easter time.
Well, if only we lived in a world of pretty yellow chicks. But sadly not.
Viva!'s undercover team have been hard at work again, and have exposed the
horror of the duck farm. For details see www.viva.org.uk Again, they've linked
this cruelty to a major supermarket. Enter the award winning Marks & Spencer
chain, famed for its compassionate stance, less famed for its treatment of
ducks! Well, M&S are not going to keep that quiet for long! Let's tell the
world!
On April 3rd, SAA are hoping that activists will join Viva! campaigners from
across the country to hand out lealfets outside M&S. Because Telford M&S is on
private land, and the town centre security guards once actually told activists
to "have a bath and get a job" it seems that Telford would be a silly option.
Shrewsbury, on the other hand, is right at the top of Pride Hill, on a public
street where we can't be moved from. We hada great turn out for our Tesco
handouts....does anyone want to do it all again?
If you think you can spare some time, please email or phone us.
Finally, I've attached a PeTA alert you may wish to respond to. It comes via
www.keeponfighting.net, a great site to bookmark if you don't already!
From PETA:
RyanAir recently announced its plan to start using leather to upholster the
seats in its airplanes. Leather is just hairless fur and is an integral part of
the livestock trade.
Most of the millions of cows, pigs, sheep and other animals who are raised for
their skins endure the horrors of factory farming - overcrowding, deprivation of
all that is natural to them and castration, branding, tail-docking and dehorning
without anaesthetics. At the end of their miserable lives, their throats are
slit, and they are hung upside-down and bled to death.
Leather made from animal skins is difficult to maintain and often tears and
cracks, but synthetic leather is rapidly gaining popularity because of its
uniformity, price, ease of care, versatility, breathability, ability to hold
dye, durability and many other advantages. Tell RyanAir that cow skin is for
cows - not for airplane seats - and urge the company to use synthetic leather in
its airplanes:
