We may be in the quiet lull of summer, but make no mistake. In a matter of
months hunting will be back and this season they are going all out, as it may
be there last. Of course, if they keep up the preassure they could win enough
time that we loose our chance to get hunting banned - so we must keep the
preassure on too.
A few months ago a dinner was held at which notorious fox killer Barry Todhunter
spoke about his trade. SAA members almost got the dinner canceled and the
hosts, The Punch Bowl, conceeded that they only allowed it to go ahead because
no money was raised for the hunt itself.
Now, the hunts of Shropshire are gearing up for 'Funding the Fight' events to
raise money for the campaign to keep hunting going.
These events will mainly be held at farms and other venues where we could
demonstrate, but nothing more.
The Wheatland, Albrighton and Albrighton Woodland, however, will be meeting at
Davenport House on Tuesday 28 September. Davenport House is a conference /
wedding venue that would surly not want to be associated with hunting. Please
email: enquiries@... and ask them politely not to host the
hunt.
There are a number of similar events coming up including a fashion show at
Enville Hall (which hosted Harecoursing earlier this year). If anyone wants to
organise or come on a demonstration, please contact SAA so we can pass the
details on.
