Yes I'm still alive and I'm still writing.
For those of you who don't know I have a new blog dedicated to
my writing. Drop by and have a look sometime. :-)
Oh and post stuff... don't want the group to fade out from idleness.
Sending this has a special notice because it has info in it.
Hi guys,
Just thought you'd like to know that I've posted the next chapter of
"Legacy" on ff.net. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2458422/6/
I'm going to try and write a chapter of this every week until its done
now.

Sorry to respond to this late but I've been behind on email. I don't think I've ever experienced that so theres nothing I can really say. My problem is I really want to write a certain story but nothing will come to me. My characters won't move plots don't happen for a certain story no matter how much I want to. It's similar except you know what you want to write while I'm still waiting for the right ideas/inspiration etc. And since I haven't solved my problem I don't know how to help with yours. Let us know though how you solve it.
I think that my get up and go has got up and gone. I really want to
write tonight but I can't. This isn't writer's block - I know exactly
what I want to write - it's weirder than that. Everytime I pick up a
pen I collapse. My brain shuts down and I lose all energy but I don't
feel tired. Just like a cartoon steamroller has run over me.
Warning major griping ahead.
I'm feeling majorly unsupported in writing here. No one has answered
my survey at LJ and no one bothers to respond to my poll here? I'm
feeling really low about my writing right now and that is liable to
cause me to get writer's block.
Plus editing is killing me. Staring at the screen trying to find the
sentence I need to change takes longer than writing the chapter did in
the first place. Argh! It gives me a migraine. How am I ever going to
finish anything?
I'm beginning to think I should give up on writing. I'll never be good
enough anyway. If I was good enough more people would have joined this
group already. It's obvious why no one answered the survey ... no one
wants to hurt my feelings by telling me how terrible I am. *sighs*
Please, if I'm as crap as I think (or crapper more likely than not)
just tell me. Silence only makes me feel worse. I want feedback! And I
don't want to have to wail to get it!

Sorry it's been a while but I've been busy writing. Both Gatekeeper:
Secret of the Key and Legacy are currently going quite well.
I had a few hairy moments with Chapter 2 of Gatekeeper. The first
draft had over 4 pages of turgid exposition. I've cut that in half (at
least) though it still needs work to give it some snap and crackle.
I'm also cutting whole chunks of both Chapter 2 and 3 and merging
them. Should make the whole chapter more tense and exciting. I'm
really dreading the next few chapters though... I need to make them
shorter, tighter and more tense without them seeming rushed. Not an
easy task but I'll manage.
The other stries are all still in stasis. We'll see what happens.
Oh, and I have a favour to ask you guys. You like my stuff right? Go
to my LJ and answer the survey there. Please?
And if you could introduce something of mine to a friend who you think
would like it I'd be eternally grateful :-) We need to grow. See poll
to follow...

*Is on the verge of tears here*
"For as long as she could remember sleep had occasionally brought
Ophelia Keswick visions of the future. Something that she considered
to be a curse rather than a blessing. Still she was used to the eerie
clarity that came with her foreknowledge so it was unsettling to find
herself blinking in the sunlight streaming through her bedroom window
as she strained to remember the details of a future she was sure she
had dreamed. Even so there was no hint that the dream had foretold the
coming day would change her life – and eventually the world – forever."
Bad? Mundane? Generic? Clunky? Confusing?
Please critique.

The thing is I don't think Gatekeeper is as fitting as I thought.
Secret of the Key fits better but is pretty meh. HA has suggested
"Gatekeeper: Secret of the Key" which seems better. Maybe I should
edit the poll...

I vote to either keep it the same or change it to Secret of the Key. I don't think Gatekeeper is a bad name but if you have to change it, change it to Secret of the Key. I haven't read any of your novel so I don't really know why that's any better than Gatekeeper. But I liked that one out of the rest.

Okay, Guys!
1. GATEKEEPER (original): still working on the chapter one rewrite.
Should be redrafted this week and typed in. if don't get *another*
migraine. I need to write faster. Watch out for the title poll!
2. LORD OF THE WOLVES (original): I still need to get back to working
on this one.
3. LEGACY (fanfic): Chapter 5 nearly done. Try to get it out next week.
4. GAMES OF DIVINITY (fanfic): No movement but odd stirrings at the
back of my brain. Perhaps I need to watch Spirited Away again.
5. OF NECESSITIES AND CONSEQUENCES (fanfic): No movement but it is
stewing in my mind.
IDEAS IN THE BREWING STAGE
STAR (original): I'm wondering if I actually need the Mars bit for
this or just some sort of future dystopia where soceity is onthe edge
of collapse.
Okay Ladles and Jellybeans!
Time for the second weekly report on the staus of my writings.
1. GATEKEEPER (original): Worked on the rewrite of Chapter One.
Decided not to change Kirs's name after all. Still want to change the
title to something with a bit more pizzazz and pulling power. Any
suggestions?
2. LORD OF THE WOLVES (original): I have so got to get back to working
on this. I'm dreaming about it which only happens when it's time to
work on something.
3. LEGACY (fanfic): Still working on chapter 5. The Sorting is written
so I'm just dealing with the feast. And yes Dudley will get some
development but not in this chapter.
4. GAMES OF DIVINITY (fanfic): I am so blocked on this that it's just
not funny.
5. OF NECESSITIES AND CONSEQUENCES (fanfic): I'm hoping that working
on D2D and thus watching a lot more Digimon will inspire me on this one.
IDEAS IN THE BREWING STAGE
STAR (original): It's interesting to me that people expressed an
interest in this. I'll start work on some character capsules for
Laurel Moore and the currently unnamed male main character. I was
tnkng of calling him Philip but I have a Philip in Gatekeeper.
I have a couple of other ideas but they are all rather vague.
Star sounds interesting. I think you should try to develope it more. You could always get someone interested in drawing it for you. Maybe Mirror or Januchan? They are busy though so maybe not. Too bad I can't draw well enough either or I'd do it for you. But you know what my grandpa always used to say: Sh!t in one hand and wish in the other and see which one you have more of. *Laughs* kind of crude I know but it makes a good point.
Well, so here we are. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. (Or
something like that)
This is the first of the writing reports I will post here for you guys.
1. GATEKEEPER (original):- Started the rewrite of Chapter One having
figured out the new first line. I have also decided to change Kira to
Mira (think about what her full name will mean if you don't get this
bit). Also I've decided I don't like The title so I may be changing
this soon.
2. LORD OF THE WOLVES (original):- (Aka Shadow Dance) Seriously
considering where to go with this one. Mat start on it again soon.
3. LEGACY (HP fanfic):- Curently part way through the first drat of
the next chapter. Hope to have it posted on FF.net befre March.
4. GAMES OF DIVINTY (Spirited Away Fanfic):- Still suffering the
dreaded block.
5.Of Necessities and Consequences (Digimon Frontier fanfic):- Likewise.
IDEAS BREWING IN MY HEAD:-
1. STAR (original):- Sort of a superhero thing. A young heiress with
secret psychic powers discovers her father is a crime lord and he
tries to kill her when she confronts him. He dies in the ensuing
confrontation and she inherits his company. She tries to clean up her
home city and keep the legitimate side of the business above water
while being targetted both by her fathers allies and by the brother of
one of his victims who thinks she's carrying on the family business.
For an interesting twist its set on a barely self-sustaining Mars
colony that's been cut off from Earth by a disaster. The colony is
gradually inching closerto the point were everything fails and
everyone dies and all but the semblance of law and order has broken
down. No real plotline yet just this premise. Might be better suited
to an episodic format like a web comic butI can't draw well enough yet.
That's all for now.
