BSE is 1hour down the A143 from where i live, it is 1/2 hr from cambridge it is
a pleasant town situated in Suffolk's exquisite countryside and is only 2 hours
away from the beautiful East Anglian coastline. You can experince the greatness
of 2 clubs one is called Existance so everyone knows its there. They are also
buliding a new multiplex and there is a Roy's of Wroxam whoop-di-do. Thats all i
know so far, read it in a brochure so it may well be propaganda crap, but who
knows.

Yeah so i'm workin full time now, so what? I'll never be a grown up and laying
in my bed many years from now, i will be willing to come back here and tell my
antagonist that he may tease my live but he will never take my eternal
childhood.
Anyway have finally worked out how to get the patient who keeps telling me to
shut up not to. The trick is to ask her if she wants to get out of bed and then
when she says no just walk away. Nice and simple but its not gonna help her, but
at least i won't get yelled at or hit which was a distinct possibility on
friday.
Have given my notice for the mouldy flat and now me and another physio are
looking to rent a house, we've got a mounth to find somewhere, a tight budget
and speacial requirements. Its like Challenge Aneaka. That was a cool
programme. was watching ITVs greatest programmes last wk but got bored quite
quickly was wondering if any of you know if Gladiators was in the top 50? I can
only say that if it was not then there has never been such a travesty in TV
countdowns since Whitney Houstan won the Pure Belta! countdown on TMF beating
Celine Dion and Bonnie Tyler to the top spot. Go On and Turn Around Bright Eyes
(I know its not called that, but its my pet name for it) are so much better than
the chin wobbling body guardsong.
That cut is still ever present on my arm in all its browny-purple glory. Two
weeks ago i cut my other arm and now there's no trace of it. Therefore i am
going to have to conceed that it is in fact DARK MAGIC or a radioactive burn. So
far I've tried to determine my superpower and have been able to cross off
Spidey-sense, Force-fields, Ultron Hearing, Teleporting and most recently
Flying. I'm now quite bruised.

Yo All. The CCF ceilidh is on friday 21 October this year. For the
uninitiated, CCF is the Sheffield Unhiveristy Catholic Society. It stands for
Catholic Chaplaincy Fellowship. They are not as good as SHUXI, just ask a few
Sheff Uni students, but they do do a good ceilidh.
The cost is £4. A ceilidh is sort of like a barn dance...although purist will
lynch me for making that comparison.

Hello how's everything going in the wonderful world of Sheffield having just got
the e-letter i'm jealous and wish i was there. Have sampled the delights of
BSE's top night spot Club extreme which it has to be said is extremely crap. Not
a patch on Leadmill, republic/gatecrasher 1 or even Bed for those old school
SHUXIites.
Thought i would lighten you all up by relating my worse day ever that occured on
the 26th of september. people say bad things hapeen in threes. here is my list
numbered so you can see that that statement is a load of old w*#k.
1. Trauma round lasted an hour so handover to an extra 30mins so only saw 1
patient before break. This patient nearly killed himself on the crutches cos
he wouldn't listen to what i was saying and kept lunging forward then
overbalancing. Felt like braking his other leg and putting him on bed rest until
the end of my rotation.
2. Every patient i went to see lasted 1/2hr or more cos the kept threatening to
faint or vomit on me. then narrowly avoided being weed on by an incontient
patient oh joy.
3. One patient was very scared and didn't want to be left alone on the commode
so i had to hold her hand while she had diarrhoea. (It smelled really bad but i
couldn't gag cos she was talking to me)
4. Still had eight patients to see on ward after lunch 2 of which were waiting
on me for discharge nurses kept nagging me.
5. With an hour left had to have an objectives meeting with my senior, lasted
45mins leaving me 15mins to see 3 patients and write up notes.
6. Was told by consultant to mobilise a patient with spinal fracture with a
lumbar support. Patient was horizontally challenged, support wouldn't fit. SHO
tells me to order lumbar brace then says send patient home to come back in for
brace fitting. I ask if he should be on bed rest til brace fitted SHO tells me
to mobilise patient. Patient stands ok marches on spot ok walks forward 2 steps
ok then falls on floor without warning and yells in agony. SHO comes over and i
quote "Oh, maybe he does need a brace." Want to kill SHO but am restrained. Day
can't get any worse, right?
7. Finally leave work after 5 having done notes creep back into department so no
one knows i've finished late. Managed that so thought i was home and dry.
8. Go out to sign contract for new house walop elbow on car door, couldn't feel
my fingers just want day to end.
9. Have finished with estate agent but others not Jen asks me to run back to car
to top up meter which i do. In a very trainspotting kind of way i'm sprinting
through BSE town centre, car suddenly appears out of alleyway. Grabbing hold of
lampost spin 360 degrees and narrowly miss going over bonnet of car. Car owner
shakes his fist at me and i realise that i could have ended up with a broken leg
on my own ward in bay 4 with the scary ladies who i treat.
10. Have to borrow £10 from Jen cos left wallet at home. Put change from Tesco
in my pocket or not, lost £5.
11. Get back to scanky mould infested flat don't want to cook but really hungry.
Burn my tea in the psychotic NHS accommodation incinerator that they call an
oven.
12. Get into bed at 9.30, i must be safe nothing can happen. Am trying to get to
sleep. 10.30 mum rings and tells me bank have sent a letter saying that a cheque
for my sheffield rent that i was sent bounced so i probably wouldn't have enough
to cover my new house rent BUGGER.
In part the person who said bad things come in threes was right but in my case
its multiples of three so i get quadruple the crap of every other bugger in the
world. However i can't write off the whole day 'cos my sandwiches were really
nice.

Hi happy birthday to you mr ex-ex-ex president of all things SHUXI. I think my
bad days are related to you and your name-sakes special days as today was also
crap not as bad as monday but getting close. one of my patients cardiac arrested
then died so that counts as two bad things.
Anyway sod work there's only one more day in my week from hell and hopefully it
won't carry over into next week cos i'm drained and have begun to laugh
hysterically with my assistant whenever anything goes wrong, its that desperate
laughter where you're not sure if you're still sane.
really this time no work stuff. Am going to a glazing place tonight with people
from the place i go to everyday and get stressed out, and you have to buy a
piece of pottery and then paint it. For those of you that know about my artistic
skill you will know that i'll probably end up painting spots or my chick-arrot
onto a plate. I'm hoping i'll be allowed to buy a dragon money box which i'll
name Gorbash like the dragon in Flight of Dragons which is a great film. However
i think we're booked in to an older peoples one so i might be left with tea
sets, i don't drink tea so that's a bit crap.
I am still concerned about the scratch on my arm. It has been there since about
the 14th of june so thats four months and its still there and really obvious. Its
kinda browny purple i think the pink and purple spiralled spiked hedgehogs (that
aren't porcupines) have been at me again tho cos i've got a cut on my elbow and
i've got no idea whetre its fro. Unless the evil earwigs that have invaded my
room are nipping me while i'm asleep. Thanks to Olly i can now class each of the
offending 'wigs according to their gender and the majority of them are male.
Little buggers.
Glad you've managed to find us anne-marie hello to anybody who's just joined
SHUXI if this is the first message you've read don't be put off i've left
sheffield so you'll only have to put up with my drivel on here.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that Quiz Night has been postponed until later in
the term just so that more people will know about it...
Thanks, Olly
dear ros'ary (in particular)
firstly i apologise for the lack of said bantering on this very
important board!
i want you to know that your pink and purple spiral-spiked hedgehogs
have infiltated england as i have noticed some mysterious scratches
on the backs of my hands and arms! (or maybe they are a cousin of
the spiral-spiked hedgehog family) - what do you think?
the reason for the lack of messaging is cos i have nothing amusing to
say oh, except a patient came in to sign onto this new practice plan
we've got and he was the one that slept until his appointment so had
to change it and we ment him he reeked of alcohol and when asked
about how many units he drank a week said "well a couple of glasses
of red wine with every meal; half a bottle of whixky every night
etc". there wasa no way i was going to forget him so when he came in
i said "oh you're..." and he was really pleased and said, "how do you
know that?!" and i felt i could hardly say "you're the guy who drinks
too much!" so instead rather lamely said "you're the one who slept up
to his appointment" which i think offended him more although he
warmed to me later cos he was telling me about how he cut his arm and
all this orange liquid came out and i thought "that would be the
whisky!!"
anyway, life is wonderful
love emma
ps: the goodlooking plan director is married. ah well! he has been
married 8 years with 2 girls - one of which has just started at
nursery.
Has anyone noticed we seem to have picked up a few new members of the
yahoo group in the last few months? That is, our number of members
has increased. Perculiar.
Hi its been a long time, shouldn't of left you... but i moved out of hospital
accommodation and don't have internet at my new house. Did i tell you its a
grade 2 listed building, feel like a proper grown up. Its part of like a
courtyard and its full of old people we keep getting the evil eye from the
neighbours cos we're young and laugh alot. we've already been sent a letter from
the chairman of the parking committee, we've framed it and we're gonna try to
get a letter from every committee that they have, not sure what they are but
it'l be fun finding out. hope there's a committee for the prevention of the
tragedy arm pump move.
Hope you're all having fun me and my housemates are going to play bingo nxt week
and we're going to see Wallace and Gromit woohoo. There's a really cool park
here that would be perfect for 40:40/kickpost/1,2,3 Doniac. its massive and
theres a wooded bit that looks like the woods in blair witch project, scary.
Speak to y'all soon luv

Hi! Just to let all people SHUXI know that the first Mass of 2006 is
on Sunday 15th January at 7pm.
Hope everybody had a merry Christmas and wish you all a happy New Year!
See you soon
Olly
Great to see everyone last night at the reunion. Was really good to
catch up and see everyone's (slighty older) faces!
Will try no to leave it so long next time - drop me a line for a chat
anytime or email me:

Big thanks to Broomy and the rest of the gang for organising it all.
P.S. I cant remember if I was dreaming or not - did anyone see me
dancing to the birdie song last night?!
All the best, Joe
Hey everyone was great to see you all at the reunion. Was fab to see
so many old faces (not that the faces were old but that I hadn't seen
you for so long...ok jen shut up while you're ahead) as well as
meeting lots of new people. Great to know the chaplaincy is still
going strong!
Broomy, Hannah and Kirsty THANKYOU so much!! You did a fantastic job,
it was such a special night. Thanks to everyone else who traveled so
far to be there. Did anyone take photos? Would love to get copies. As
usual I brought my camera and then proceeded to leave it in my bag
most of the night. Forget digital, I need a camera that takes the
photos by itself. (Im not lazy honest!)
I'm back in the emerald isle, flew back last night. Had a pretty fun
journey, most amusing part of which was when ryanair decided to change
the departure gate for the dublin flight at literally the last minute.
The new departure gate was MILES away so there were about 80 Irish
people and a few baffled tourists legging it across manchester airport
like a mini stampead!! We got a few strange looks....
You're all very welcome in Dublin! Cheap flights and a free place to
stay in the heart of the city (I'll be there till june) let me know
when you're coming over it'll be great craic :-)
God bless,
jenny xxxx

and what an action packed garden party it was. Despite the price
being a little steep.
I think as there are two computer geeks on the exec this year perhaps
some photos ought to be put on the website...or how about a
podcast...or we could broadcast videos of Chris W and Joe J jumping
into the paddling pool at a stupid hour of the morning and shivering
afterwards. I think Silvio got some pictures of them.

Hi and thanks for the shuxi-webside-update.
I fell a little homesick as many of the pics seem to be from 2001 when I
came to the Shuxi while I was living in Sheffield.
It's a long time ago, but it was cool to see some old faces again. Hi to
Luis, Damien, David, Juan, Carine, Kathleen, Jenny, Hannah, Richard, Sofia,
Stuart, Matt, Karolina, Renata, Chris(es), Kirsty and everyone else who
still remembers the good old days,

Hi Tina,
nice to hear from you. Wie gehts dir? Of course I read the shuxi
messages - not too sure how to use this new feature though.
I still live in England but not in Sheffield anymore. Happy to keep
in touch - I already had some news from Renata last summer.

Ok just a couple of points to note, these two events have been moved.
SHUXI meal at 'ASK' has been moved to Friday 23rd March 8pm meet outside the
restaurant. If you are interested please could you put your name down at mass on
sunday so we know how many places to reserve.
Peak district walk has been moved from this weekend to Saturday 24th March 11am
meet inside the main entrance at Sheffield Station. Tickets can be bought on the
day(we are going to Edale) I will also be taking names for this at mass on
Sunday.
Don't forget it is the annual SHUXI meeting after mass this sunday (18th) which
should last only about 20 minutes. The meal this week will be free to all.
For more information and further events please check out the 'SHUXI' group on
facebook or the website at www.shuxi.org.uk Thanks Joe (Vice President)
