Hi guys,
Training is on as normal tomorrow, the photographer has a meeting for his phd he cant get out of, I am requesting we have it next weds at the same time. Tell a friend!
Dont forget committee positions and AU ball, they are next tuesday and next wednesday respectively and I want everyone to be there! I've outlined the roles for the committee below for those who are interested.
Thanks
Tom
You can run for everything if you like, but you can only hold one off and one on pitch role.
Off-Pitch
PRESIDENT
Run's the off-pitch side of the club, mainly through the committee. Chairs meetings, generally involved in club communication with the AU, other societies and other Ultimate clubs. Needs to be pretty organised, though the real key is mastering the art of delegation... Interestingly, only gets a vote on the committee if there is a tie. View this role as the face of the club (apologies for the ugly mug this year!).
VICE PRESIDENT
More of a social secretary role in our club, though also helps the president out with things like trophies. This person needs to drive the social side of the club, good at driving bargins with bars and restaurants to save people money on nights out. Ideally stern but fun - usual qualities for organising drunk skunks. If anyone is looking for an example, Helen T did a very good job this year!
SECRETARY
The real unsung hero. Keeps on top of all the club admin, members, hall bookings for training and tournaments, takes minutes at meetings. Need to be really organised in securing these things.
TREASURER
Pretty simple, the money person. Basically you have to be proactive as students are tight as f**k. Need to be assertive with your mates if they're not paying up. Not the most fun, but if you do your job well then the club will reap the rewards. Have to be fast posting cheques for tournaments, paying for halls and stuff.
KIT SECRETARY
Sorts out kit. This involves a bit of storage so bear that in mind. Worse case you just need to get new players kit, if you have a bit more time then some people like to accessorise (lauren). Useful if they can hunt down the best balance of cost/quality.
WEBMASTER
Really just needs to keep on top of the website, ensure people are in the communication loop. Needs to be able to learn some programming if there is any online maintenance to do. One day the Skunks should have an awesome website with online signups, votes etc...
On-Pitch
CAPTAIN
Runs trainings, responsible for keeping people keen and improving players on field. Really tough role, you have to get new players in and keep them coming while driving the first team to victory. Great for character building as the team looks to you when under pressure. Generally takes 1st team captain role but they can appoint this to someone else if they wish.
VICE CAPTAIN
Supports the captain, even if they don't agree with them, they are a face to back up the boss at all times. There to advise, help at trainings. Another leading figure for players to approach for advice on pitch. The level of involvment depends on the captains style really. Potentially take this role with a view to being captain the following year.
WOMEN'S CAPTAIN
Run's the fairer side of the club on pitch. Very similar to the captain but for the women, has a similar role to the VC at open trainings if required.
WOMEN'S VICE CAPTAIN
Same as the VC but for the Women's captain. Friendly face for fresher ladies, helps out at tournaments and trainings. Consider this with a view to being captain the following year.
