Skywaves is the monthly publication of The British FM & TV Circle.
We are a friendly group catering for those who are interested in the hobby of long-distance (DX) radio and TV reception. We cover FM and VHF/UHF TV DX and satellite / digital radio and TV.
Some of our members are radio amateurs and hobbyists from other areas of the radio hobby such as medium wave DXers and short wave listeners. Our members span the globe and we always welcome newcomers to the forum, whether they are keen DX listeners or are just beginning in the hobby and need advice.
People might ask "what's the point?" Well, it's a hobby some may not be familiar with and it may not be easy to understand the buzz we get out of it, but our members would probably argue it is one of the most fulfilling hobbies anybody could have.
Many people may become interested without actually realising. Have you ever tuned up and down the broadcast bands to try and find a more interesting radio station, or tuned a TV set only to discover new stations and wonder what they were? This is really what our hobby is all about.
History
The British FM & TV Circle began in 1995 with just a small handful of members in the UK. Since then we have grown to become aninternationally renowned group with members spread across the world.
Visit our website at www.skywaves.info for details about our group and lots of useful information about the hobby.
