What do you think? Could we arrange a local dig?
Paul.

Subject: Sea Mills Community Project & Big Roman Dig
Dear Paul
I hope this reaches you ok - I got your address off the Community Project
website. I'm emailing about the Time Team Big Roman Dig - are you aware of
it? Details are online at
http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/B/bigromandig/
I have been looking into the possibility of an event in the Sea Mills area,
as so little of the town has been excavated, and wondered whether we could
interest a group of people in digging test pits in their gardens. The
assistant producer is very keen on the idea, so it's just a matter of
finding willing participants.
Do you think it would be feasible? The general plan would be to have between
5 and 10 gardens, preferably on the same road or at least fairly close
together; the owners would do the digging and I would be on hand to help and
advise, along with one or two colleagues from the museum to help identify
any finds. I don't envisage it lasting more than a couple of days.
Let me know what you think. I look forward to hearing from you.
