Hi Dave,
I was thinking more garden size, they dont bark trees and two is always best
for company. Stock net will be fine with maybe a strand of barbed wire about 3
inches above the floor so they don't dig their way out. they will need a house
but a strawbale one with a tin roof will be bliss.
Weaners are usually about 7 or 8 weeks old and they will be ready for pork at
about 18- 20 wks.
My slaughterhouse joints and some shrink wrap the meat, mine just hands you
several big bags of meat, be sure to ask for the offal back. Most butchers will
make the belly and tatty cuts into sausages for a small fee if you ask, and most
will discuss and advise how to joint the carcass. it usually takes a couple of
days before you pick up the meat or you can ask a butcher of your choice to deal
with the carcass and you pay him directly, you will need to contact the
slaughterhouse and butcher in advance to arrange it all.

Hello Bev
Thanks for your reply. How much space do you give yours we have 6 acres, but
dont want the fruit trees debarked.
Can you explain more about the weaners, presumably they are nearly adult
when you get them. When the abbatoir kills them do they butcher them into
joints or do you have to find a butcher to do that? I was thinking of using
pig fencing to keep them in. Iss it true they need company ie get two rather
than one?
All the best Dave
