I would have to agree with Bev here Michelle,
There are smallholders out there who work sort of swap shops with
stud animals if they are registered. It saves a fortune in the long
run and you have the benefit of introducing other lines into your
flock (if it's a flock you want?). He would be far happier out in the
field serving a purpose if he's good enough, rather than feeding the
hounds.
Whenever I've had male kids I do them at around 14-15 weeks and then
you can either kill out as kids or save until you get a larger animal
the only problem we have here in Ireland is finding a registered
slaughterer who will do goats.
