Re: [southdorsetkitesurfing] Re: Sunday sesh with beers Sat night?
Please ignore the other mail, I hit the wrong button.
My previous mail was about your safety, as much as anyone elses. I don't want you hurt.
If you go out in the harbour in an easterly, and you get dragged into the channel, you will get us all banned. The conditions are not suitable for anyone of any standard. It's not fun, as much as it's dangerous.
1st rule of kitesurfing, never go out in offshore winds, unless you have safety boat cover.
I don't know your standard. I don't want to see anyone hurt, neither beginner, intermediate, or pro. It happens, priding yourself on not having an accident can lead to overconfidence. I'm glad you haven't had an accident, I have. I know lots of people who have. They happen, no matter what level you are.
From the tone of your last I assume you are fairly new to the sport, great, welcome, but please stay safe, don't take unecessary risks. Go off the front, the waves will not be big, if you lose your board people will help you, but it should be a good time to improve your riding, and your body dragging. Sorry if I misjudged the tone, and you are better than that, but trying the harbour in an E suggests otherwise.
I didn't shoot from the hip, I was giving advice. You, however, have, think about that. I am someone that will help anyone on the beach, no matter what, whether I've known them for years, or a complete newbie. This sport is about looking after each other, which is what I was trying to do.
Go out this weekend, have fun, but don't go in the harbour in an E.
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.

Tim,
Who are you to say, where we can and cannot kite, when you dont know us, our standard or our the people who we kite with. Safety is my first priority for myself and whoever is kitesurfing with me and I can proudly say I and people I have kited with have never had an accident. I respect the beginners when I am there and make sure I dont infirnge on their learning. I suggest you find your facts out before you shoot from the hip.

Off the front at
Sandbanks would work, but not the harbour. > > The harbour seems to be a nice place, with shallow and flat water, but the wind is gusty, there is a road that goes around, and it's full of learners. It's ideal to learn how to go upwind, and maybe, if it's quiet, a place to learn new tricks, but should not be a priority site. The combination of lot's of learners, a road, and gusty conditions make it at best a sketchy spot, if not dangerous. The harbour only realy works in NW, although it can be used for anything with W in it. 9 times out of 10 you'll have more room, and more fun off the front. > > There are two theories to arguing with women. Hey - chillout Kyle :) You could look at it from the point of view that Tim was concerned for your safety too? The harbour on an easterly is pretty dangerous...
