Well, good afternoon everybody, and a big welcome to Sarah who came to check us out last night! Hope to see you again soon!
What fabulous weather we’ve been having – I can say that as I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it on my week off work! But it’s back to the land of air-conditioning next week for me – I know, you all feel for me I’m sure ;)
But lets not think about work as we’ve got a glorious bank holiday to look forward to! We’ve got a couple of cracking events to help you enjoy the sunshine, but as always, if you fancy doing something on the spur of the moment, then post to this address (soton_friends@yahoogroups.com) and see who will act on impulse and reply screaming “Yes! Count me in!” Biggles is always up for anything, so feel free to give him a shout at any point over the weekend (07790 039 199) and see who’s out and about!
We’ve had a quiet time of it recently (I know, you’re all too busy sunning yourselves!) so it’s high time we all got together for a good old knees up! So, without further ado but maybe an impromptu drum roll, lets see what events we’ve got coming up soon!
Tonight (Thursday), South Hampshire Quest are holding their monthly “Curry and a Pint” night at one of Southampton finest (ahem) Wetherspoons. A little bird tells me that they’ve already got a stonking crowd signed up, so why not come along and join in the fun!
We’ll be meeting them at 7pm at The Standing Order (30 The High Street, SO14 2DF). Biggles, our curry master general, will be there eagerly awaiting the hot and saucy action of the evening (although perhaps not the phaal this time Biggles?) so give him a bell (07790 039 199) and he’ll keep a weather eye out for you!
To enjoy the extra day off work on Monday, Shelly is organising a picnic on the common! We’ll be meeting up at 1pm outside The Bellemore Inn (Hill Lane) with picnic food and drinks to share, along with whatever games you fancy – frisbees, footballs etc. Give Shelly a text or a call (07881 534 254) to let her know that you’ll be joining us!
As a plan B, in case the weather is rubbish (I’ve censored her exact phrasing…she didn’t say “rubbish”), we’ll still meet up at The Bellemore Inn at 1pm but will get food in the pub and then scoot off to megabowl or something similar for the afternoon! So if the weather looks a little dodgy when you crawl out of bed on Monday and you decide that’s it’s not your hangover that’s making it look so bad, check in with Shelly before you set off to confirm if we’re picnicking or pubbing! Either way, we’re going to have a great time!
What else are we up to in the near future? Well, we’ll be having Rich’s birthday bash - a bbq at the SF Inn - on Saturday 12th May all things being good! Also, this Princess has a birthday soon so is looking for suggestions of what to do (apart from going to dribble over beautiful Pirate Johnny at the cinema).
We’ve got karting pencilled in for Saturday 23rd June and there’ll be an email with more details heading your way very soon!
Also, the first deposits for September’s MW@MK (Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes) are due soon so get yourselves signed in for that – it’s a cracking weekend and not to be missed!
Well, it leaves me to wish you all a very nice rest of the week and I hope that the weather holds so that we can all take full advantage of it over the three-day weekend!
See you all in the pub later!
Princess Phil
