Evenin’ all!
Phew! What a busy time it is. Last week we trooped off for yummy scrummy pizza – all 16 of us! We had a great time, filled the place with noise, managed to wangle 2-4-1 for everyone but best of all was the journey home. No honestly, I’m not trying to be rude. Sam has bought himself a lovely Porsche Boxter S (mahh hahh!) and I followed him out of the car park only to witness 4 chavs in an MG ZR trying to race him off the lights. Sam pulled away very conservatively and the chavs stalled. Awesome. Only to be made funnier by me applauding them from my car and them waving back and taking a bow. Shame!
Last night was a busy one for us – it was AGM time and we overspilled our allotted area with 20 people attending, hurrah! Jenny L signed up with us and leapt onto the committee immediately and we have a lot of people about to join up too. To the business side of things, your new committee is as follows:
Chair – Paula O
Secretary – Amanda S
Treasurer – Phil M
Events – Shelly S
Website – Chris H
General – Donna G
General – Jenny L
General – Dave M
Co-opted in to help integrate SF into the wider world of Plus – Matt W (Hillingdon)
Yes, count them, that’s 9 (I say again NINE) people on the committee! It’s great to see so many people showing an interest in running the club and wanting to play a more active role. Hold onto your hats for the next 6 months…it’s gonna be great! Event ideas being banded about last night include bowling, bingo, a trip to Marwell Zoo and Monkey World, party nights at The Frog and Frigate, and of course a yummy scrummy Summer Hog Roast…mmmmm…
We were also able to celebrate our recent success of winning the Best Group Award which was presented at NAGM and kindly collected on our behalf by SA Chair Kath. We had cake and balloons and sweeties so turned it into quite the party! Paula apologises that we did have 2 bottles of bubbly on order but the bar ran out!! We’ll have to save that for another time ;) Thank you to everyone across the SA and the wider world of Plus for your messages of congratulations – yes, we were chuffed to bits and very surprised!
Some future events for you:
Karting has been booked for Sunday 15th March. 9 places have already been snapped up (only 1 left!) but we will keep a reserve list and if necessary we will try to book a second session to run alongside our main one. Please contact Dave or hit reply if you want to come, but we do need full payment by next Wednesday at the latest to secure your space (or it will go to someone on the reserve list that flashes us the cash!).
We have booked the 9 interested people in for Michael McIntyre for Tuesday 13th October at the BIC – yes, the Sunday and Monday have already sold out! If you want to go then feel free to book yourself in – if you want a buddy to sit with let us know and we’ll see if there’s someone in the same boat.
We have also bought tickets for the 4 people wanting to see Lenny Kravitz. They are standing tickets so if you want to join in then contact the box office, buy yourself a ticket and we’ll see you there.
Phew! To events a bit closer:
This Saturday night we’re off to Mono followed by Reflex for Shelly’s birthday. We’ll be starting off at 8pm in Mono to enjoy a few bevies, then going on to Reflex at 10pm where Shelly has booked us in so we get in for £4, a bottle of bubbly and party packs. Now who can refuse a night out like that?!
For those who don’t fancy Reflex, there’s a gig on at Joiners….hit reply for more info.
Next Wednesday we’re back in Chambers for a normal club night starting at 8pm so if we don’t see you on Saturday we hope to see you then!
