Hi Folkies!

Ooooops! yours truely always gets confused by bank
holidays and having 2 in a row means that that this
email should have been sent yesterday! (if only I had
a time machine!)

Anyway, A load of us (SHQ and SF) members went to the
Hobbit on Saturday night for a Blues and Ale festival,
the evening went very well as we sampled all the
lovely ales (I think there were bands as well, but I
was concentrating on the important stuff!) Things
went well up to about midnight when the sewer over
flowed and caused all of us to flee to the main bar
area! it was very packed up there! shortly afterwards
we found ourselves back at Kirsty and Richard's,
eating our takeaways and watching some TV talent show
thingy - I don't watch much TV normally, so the
details are a little blurry (what do you mean "that
might have been the Ale!")

Anyway, Tonight finds us once again at Quayside from
8.30pm. For those who have not yet managed to make a
meeting, we can usually be found in the back of the
pub, on one of the larger tables, in the non smoking
section - but if you are a little wary of approaching
random strangers, feel free to phone my mobile on
07790039199 (orange network) and I will do my best to
be visible! Or you could look at the picture on the
front of the mailing list which shows myself, Kirsty
and Ian (the primary members of the group committee!)
and say "hi!" to anyone who looks like that....

(heh, I think we are fairly distinctive!)

Hope to see you all tonight

Hello again fluffy bunnies!

As promised, I've had my ears to the ground (and chatted to some people in the pub – good curry btw!) and here's an update for you!

This Saturday night, Tim is taking us to The Hobbit (Beavois Valley) for the Blues & Ale Festival!  He’ll be there from 8.30pm and we’ve already had loads of interest so come along and join in the fun!  Give Tim a call (07855 252 120) to let him know you’re coming along too!

It looks as though I was fed some bad information and Shelly will not be taking us to the funfair on the common after all :( Naughty people lying to Princess Phil!  Off with their heads!  However, for those disappointed Easter Chickens amongst you, there is a solution!  If you’d like to go the fun fair, why not post to this group and see if there are any other like-minded bunnies out there who’d like to go too!

The fair is on 1pm to 9.30pm all weekend and 9.30am to 9.30pm on Monday so there’s loads of time to fit it in!  If you’re interested there’s a bit more info at:

http://www.visit-southampton.co.uk/site/home/easter-fun-fair-p209131

Well that really is all for this week!  Have a great weekend and hope to see you at some point if you’re not all suffering with sugar hangovers!

Hello there choco-feasters!

Are we all ready for some serious chocolate scoffing this weekend?  Got your Easter Eggs all ready and lined up?  In size order?  Ok, that’s clearly just me then.

Apologies for the lateness of the email – it was prepped and ready to go at midnight last night but was lacking a few details that have taken a while to pin down!  They still haven’t been confirmed so there will be another email sent out once all has been agreed.  If you’re desperate for the latest update, hit reply or give me a call (07793 892 075) and I’ll give you the latest info.

Well, last weekend we had a blast watching the ever so classic “Back to the Future” trilogy back to back!  Kirsty spoiled us by feeding us lots of yummy pancakes :) Favourite fillings were either syrup and lemon, or chocolate spread and banana - but not all at the same time!  And thankfully everyone came fully clothed, in case you were worried about that from last weeks email.

It was a modest turnout in the pub last night, but we had a ball none the less!  Good to see Matt and Julie back in the pub – feels like forever but I’m sure it’s not!

So back to the future events… <groan>

Tonight!  SHQuest are hosting their monthly curry night and of course, we are all invited along to join them!  Be at the Bright Water Inn (Shirley Wetherspoon) at 6.30pm to grab a table, a seat, some cutlery, any sauces you may fancy, a curry and a pint, all for the bargain price of £5.99!  You can’t take the table, seat or cutlery home with you though - unfortunately, that all has to stay in the pub.  We’ll be sat at the back in the non-smoking section, but give Kirsty a ring (07919 286692) if you have trouble tracking us down!

Next, a late change to the calendar:

This Saturday’s Murder Mystery has been postponed to a date (yet to be finalised) when more people will able to come along and join in the fun and have a scream!

So the exciting last minute replacement substitution events off the bench are hopefully as follows:

Details are still a little sketchy, but this Saturday we’re going to the Blues & Ale Festival at The Hobbit (Beavois Valley).  Hope to have more details very soon!

Also, Shelly may have had her arm twisted (good job Tim!) to take us to the funfair on the common this weekend!  Again, still awaiting confirmation but rest assured you’ll be the first to know when I hear anything!

I’ve got my bunny ears to the ground on this and will update you ASAP!!

Finally, don’t forget to keep on saving those pennies for the Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes!  Also, this years plus holiday (organised by Tom Seddon) has just been announced – they’re going to Turkey for 1 week, flying out on the weekend of 29th/30th September and the price is £330 which includes flights and self-catering accommodation – a bargain!  I went last year to Cyprus with Shelly and we had a fabulous time – well worth investigating!  Hit reply if you’d like to know more or you’ve got any questions about last years holiday, and I’ll forward you on all the info from Tom and tell you all about it!

Well, that’s about all for this week.  If anyone wants me, I’ll be lying in a sugar-induced coma on my lounge floor surrounded by a load of shiny chocolate wrappers.  Although unlike the Vicar of Dibley, I won’t be going for the golden syrup tin too.  That’s too far even for me.

Enjoy your 4-day weekend – make it a good one!

See you soon,

Princess Phil

Hi Kerri!

Nice to meet you and welcome to this forum! If you're not doing anything tonight - we are having a curry and a pint at the Bright Water Inn, Wetherspoon, Shirley from 6.30pm. As far as I know, and if getting someone to look after your kids is a bit difficult on short notice, kids are welcome there.

Hope to see you tonight!

Kirsty

Hi Kerri!

Welcome to South Hampshire Quest!

It may be a bit short notice, but we are having our
monthly Curry Night this evening at the Bright Water
Inn (Wetherspoon Shirley) from 6.30pm. - it will be
£5.99 for a curry and a pint. We'll be most probably
sitting in the non-smoking area in the back of the
pub. Give Kirsty a shout (07919 286692) if you can't
find us or want us to save you a seat!

If you can't make it, don't worry - we have the curry
nights once a month and lots of other activities lined
up before then!

For example, We are teaming up with Southampton
Friends this Saturday and attending the Blues & Ale
Festival at The Hobbit (Beavois Valley) with them and
there are plans also to go to the Fun Fair on the
Common sometime this weekend...

Watch out for Princess Phil's (Southampton Friends)
email later today for exact times and places!

Hope to see you sometime, either at an activity or on
our regular weekly meeting at the Quayside (Nr.
leisure world)

Goodmorning Bunny Lovers!

Last night was good fun, with massive thanx to Bev for the best chocolate cookies ever! And it was great to run into an old friend - welcome to South Hampshire Quest (and this list), Sam. Hope to see you around loads :) If anyone is up for canoeing, make sure you'll let him know.

Rather up for eating than getting wet? Well, we are having our monthly Curry Night tomorrow and we've decided on the Bright Water Inn (Wetherspoon Shirley) from 6.30pm. As we discovered last time - it will be £5.99 for a curry and a pint. We'll be most probably sitting in the non-smoking area in the back of the pub. Give me a shout (07919 286692) if you can't find us or want us to save you a seat!

This weekend we were planning on murder, but as we had enough interest - not everyone could make this weekend (too busy with painting eggs), so we decided to postpone the Murder Mystery to a later date this year.

Bet you want to know what we are doing instead.. Well, I heard that Southampton Friends is planning on attending the Blues & Ale Festival at The Hobbit (Beavois Valley) on Saturday and Shelly is taking us to the Fun Fair on the Common sometime this weekend...

Watch out for Princess Phil's email tomorrow for exact times and places!

Rest me to say to all you weekly readers - isn't time that we put email addresses to faces?

Hope to see you over dinner and ale :D

Just a short one from me this week since I am still
having strong feelings I should be living in 1985....

For those who didn't go, Saturday night found us round
Kirsty's place for a DVD night with Pancakes and
nibbles, watching the time traveling exploits of
Michael J Fox in "Back to the future" trilogy - I
STILL want a Hover Board!!!!!!!

Sunday found myself and Kirsty spending a few hours in
the company of the Southern Area Committee, for those
who don't know, Kirsty is a General Committee Member
on the Southern Area Tier of Plus and I am thinking
about standing for the post of Development Officer at
the Next Area Conference (in about 2 weeks time)

Moving swiftly onwards, Tomorrow night finds the
group once again at Quayside from 8.30pm For those
who have not yet managed to make a meeting, we can
usually be found in the back of the pub, on one of the
larger tables, in the non smoking section - but if you
are a little wary of approaching random strangers,
feel free to give Kristy a call on 07919 286692 and
she will endevour to welcome you! Or you could look
at the picture on the front of the mailing list which
shows myself, Kirsty and Ian (the primary members of
the group committee!) and say "hi!" to anyone who
looks like that.... (heh, I think we are fairly
distinctive!)

Good Afternoon all my fellow springboks!

Everybody happily recovered from the shock of losing an hours sleep yet?

Well I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted just hearing about the weekend away at Brean!  Pirate parties, drinking, bands, Cheddar And Scrumpy Experience, things-you-never-needed-to know rude quiz (way to go big sis!), drinking, films, another quiz, more drinking, parties, even more drinking, caravan parties and I think a little more drinking.  Did anyone sleep?  We all need a rest after hearing about it!

Nidz – that reminds me.  Biggles has passed me your jumper that you left behind at Brean.  If you let me know when you’re next planning on coming along I’ll do my best to make sure it’s there waiting for you!

So what action packed events do we have coming up?

Well, this Saturday SF-Inn (& SHQ-Inn) will play venue to our “Back to the Future” DVD trilogy night.  A chance for us to sit back, relax, eat lots of yummy food and indulge in some absolutely classic movie gold!  What’s that?  Not sure you can handle it?  You’re not “Chicken” are you?!  Well in that case, you’d better turn up at SF-Inn (67 Pettinger Gardens, SO17 2WL) at 5pm this Saturday with some food, some drink and a firm cushion.  Give our host Kirtsy a ring (07919 286 692) to let her know you’ll be coming along to prove that you’re not chicken…

Also discussed in the pub last night was the chance to spice up DVD night, and invoke a colour theme!  We choose a colour that really captures the essence of the film and you have to come dressed in an item of that colour.  Suggestions put forward for this weekend were silver, red and blue.  As you can tell, we had a bit of trouble on this one, so we’ll settle for you turning up fully clothed!

On Sunday, our very own Biggles will be standing for the role of Area Development Officer at the Area meeting, so good luck to him!  Kirtsy will also be going along to the meeting and will no doubt provide some good moral support!

Tim is hosting a Murder Mystery evening on Saturday 7th April!  It will cost £8 pp which includes the game and some lovely food to munch on whilst pondering “who dunnit?!”  Give Tim a yell or a scream (its_me_hurray@...) to let him know you’ll be there!

A couple of up-coming events to watch out for:

The go-karting has been pushed back a few weeks but we have not set a date yet or picked a venue.  GDB and myself will be picking a date and location very soon so if you want to sway us towards your personal preference, bribes of cookies, chocolate, alcohol, jewellery and cash will be considered.  We really need to get an idea of the level of interest so please hit reply and let me know you’re up for it!  Prices range from around £30 up to £50 depending on the venue (all are reasonably close), type of event and number of people we get going so please let us know whether you’re up for smaller and cheaper or bigger and a bit more pricey and we’ll see what we can do!

Amanda – On a similar theme, there’s still one skid mark left – I spotted it last night!  Also, I hope you got on ok with the NUHC possy – we’re a cool crew!  ;)

Finally, rumours abound that National Paintball is coming up soon.  This will be held on Saturday 26th May and includes a day’s paintballing and disco in the evening.  It’s being held in Abridge, Essex and prices are £40 for painball & disco, or £5 for just the disco!  Publicity is being rattled off the press at the moment and should be available soon.

Right, I’m off to get some lunch.  It’s Thursday Roast day!

Princess Phil

Hello Darlin's

What a weekend.. Still knackered and trying to get over my hangover, but it was definitely worth it - big time! We arrived at the site on Thursday around 4pm and sorted out some last minute stuff.. Had some dinner, some drinks and then.. The phone rang.. 'Is there still room?' 'Can I come too?' No problemo.. It was 11pm when we had sorted out the caravan plan and everyone had a bed to sleep in!

Friday morning we got up and had a bite of breakfast at Momma's like last year, we lounged around, were back at the site around 11am and decided to start the day off with a drink... The first Plussers started to arrive, but had to wait till 3pm, cause that was the time we got the keys.. Time for another drink it was...

By 10pm almost everyone was signed in and ready for the entertainment. The magician was quite good, but why had he changed his assistant? Last year's one actually made us look the other way :)

DJ Gary was magnificent as usual and I think it was around 1am we were shoved out of the venue. Your esteemed chair sitter went off to find a party and we watched a film, had a chat and another drink.

Saturday was good fun - Bar opened at 11am and line dancing was next (this is more difficult than it looks!). Deal or No Deal (Beer or No Beer) was presented by your own Foreign Secretary, who lost her Noel shirt and wore something green (!) and we had the Things-You-Never-Wanted-To-Know-Quiz by Tim and Debs.

In the evening we had loads of Pirates running around and Paul West showed up too around 10pm! The band The Kommitments was absolutely amazing!! And we danced and drank the night away..

Sunday the guys went on the Cheddar And Scrumpy Experience and I stayed on site to watch a film in Dickie's Bar especially put on for us! After a spot of dinner we went back to the venue for the last night of the weekend.. The band Skinny Dippers got us back on the dance floor with quite a diverse section of music. We did the raffle and the thank-you's and the bar was open for just another half an hour longer.. We drank some more..

Monday morning after breakfast we said our goodbyes to our old and new friends and drove back to Southampton (well, Rich was driving and I was asleep!).

Big thanx to everyone who was there and made it an unforgettable and marvellous weekend and if you weren't there.. YOU MISSED OUT! :D

No worries - there are so many more amazing weekends coming up! For instance this weekend - Back to the Future DVD trilogy night at the SF / SHQ Inn on Saturday.. Be there at 5pm with something to drink and eat and you will be entertained! If you want to find out where it is (all SF'ers and SHQ'ers invited, even if you've never seen us before!!) give me a shout (07919 286692).

And, Tim, we (Biggles, Kirsty, Rich and Jo), will certainly be there for the Murder Mystery on Saturday the 7th of April. Tonight they will get numbers from SF for the total of people playing along. It will be £8pp which included the game and your food. Anyone who is interested - contact Tim (its_me_hurray@...) and he will let you know which part you will be playing!

Well, I'm going back to sleep... See you Saturday!!!!

Huggles,
Kirsty
SHQ Foreign Secretary

Wow! What a great weekend for us and the rest of the
Federation! Yours truly and about 130 other members
of Plus/Quest descended upon the unsuspecting caravan
park of Brean Sands Nr. Western Super Mare for a 3
Night party weekend. Whist the influence of alcohol
may have some bearing on the jumble of experiences and
memories that we shared, I suspect that lack of sleep
also had a big impact! For those who were not able to
go, 3 nights of live entertainment, caravan parties
after the venue shut (I saw dawn several times before
going to bed!) days filled with Quizes, Games, real
Ale, Singing and dancing, Shared fun and quite a bit
of laughter, some flirting and many happy moments!

Only 7 months before WASH (Which is much bigger but
just as much fun)! Of course The Federation does hold
many other great weekends and we will be gearing up to
them over the next few months so keep your eyes pealed
on this mailing list!

Anyway, now I have that out of my system, Tomorrow
night finds us once again at Quayside from 8.30pm
Where I am sure our members who went will be excitedly
reminiscing about Brean! I would like to say "hi!"
to Jo and Sandro who have just joined our mailing list
- maybe we will be seeing them at one of our meetings
soon! :) For those who have not yet managed to make
a meeting, we can usually be found in the back of the
pub, on one of the larger tables, in the non smoking
section - but if you are a little wary of approaching
random strangers, feel free to phone my mobile on

Hope to see a few new faces tomorrow night, and to
catch up with a few older ones!

Good afternoon sweets!

Well we had a great night last night and a big welcome to Nidz!  Please tell me I spelled that right – at least I’m doing better than Biggles who kept calling you “Nits” – bless him!  It was great to meet you and thanks for all the snacks!  I hope you survived being left with Biggles and Adam for a bit - they're lovely really! ;)

This weekend a load of plussers are off to Weston-Super-Mare for Brean!  They’ll be turning up on site from 3pm on Friday and will be chucked out kicking and screaming at 10am Monday morning.  I believe the booking officer, our very own Kirsty, is happy for any really really last minuters to give her a call and she can try to fit you in!  (07919 286 692)

Coming up soon, we have another DVD trilogy night coming up – it’s Back to the Future night on Saturday 31st March!

Also, Tim is organising a murder mystery night on Saturday 7th April.  Give me a shout if you’re interested in coming along and I’ll be sure to register your interest!

Looking further into the future (not going back to it!) we have some big events coming up later in the year – Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes including the National Karting Competition in September and WASH (Weekend at Sunny Hunstanton) in November so it’ll soon be time to raid those piggy banks!

Well, that’s all for today – just a short one this week!

Til next time!

Hello Darlin's!

Soooo sorry about the late email today (and according to my laptop it is not even Wednesday anymore!).

So, just to let you know that yes, we are going away this weekend and yes, if you do want to come along - there is still some space! You can contact me (07919 286692) if you really want to :) We will be on our way to Weston-Super-Mare tomorrow... Everyone else can book in on site from 3pm on Friday and will be kicked off on Monday 10am! Do hope to see you all there though, I've got my pirate outfit all sorted! What about you?

One other event I really would like to promote is our Murder Mystery Evening on Saturday the 7th of April. When you are interested, hit reply and let us know, so we know how many people to cater for!

September is the month for the Mad Weekend @ Milton Keynes incorporating the National Karting Competition! But you can also go to Cyprus that month!

November is the month for Weekend At Sunny Hunstanton and Centre Parcs!

And behold, in January you could go skiing in Finland!

Next to that - the Back to the Future Trilogy DVD night will be on Saturday the 31st this month (see, you don't have to wait that long to have some fun :)

Well, I'm off to bed now (thinking I might have beaten Princess Phil by an inch or centimetre)

Night & till next!

Hi folks,

Gosh, has the week really come around this fast again?
It does not seem like a week since we were last at
the Quayside, having a few drinks and getting to know
each other better, But, of course it has been!
Tomorrow we are meeting again and I am hearing that we
may have a couple of new faces turning up, checking us
out and maybe even getting involved! remember, we
only recently opened and have big plans for expansion
already!

This weekend we will be joining up with the rest of
the Federation and partying the weekend away at Brean
Sands (Nr. Western Super Mare) The organizers say
that there are still a few spare spaces available for
paid up members - but we will need the full amount of
money £59.95 this Tuesday (and if you are not fully
paid up, add another 30 pounds and a membership form!)
and we'll make sure you too will be joining in this
fabtastic weekend event (Fri 23rd of March - Monday
26th of March).

Looking ahead for the Summer, we are thinking about
cycling in the New Forest / Camping / Picnics / and
lots of out doorsy things - so the program is filling
up nicely - but we can still add other events on it,
if we get some other ideas coming through, so stick
your thinking heads on and pass them on to us! Plus
is run BY its members, FOR its members - so we are all
in it together!

Hope to see you all tomorrow - Quayside from 8.30pm!

Good Evening happy campers!

For those of you who rushed home from the pub to eagerly check your email (I know you do!) you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find this sat in your inbox!  Don’t taunt me….I know you like reading it.

Just a quick one tonight, today, oh whenever it is!

Last weekend we had a blast in Reflex, dancing the night away to anything and everything in your cheesy 80’s record collection!  The birthday girl did retire early due to some quite spectacular hair issues but is planning a public service announcement regarding the dangers of wearing plastic glittery hats in very hot nightclubs and the associated condition known as “sweaty hair-itus”.  Only joking Shelly – we had a fab time and hope you did too!

So, coming up:

This Friday, Matt P is taking us to Jongleurs for a night of comedy!  Thank goodness for that or we’d be staying at home for, oh, a night of comedy.

On Saturday, an additional item to the calendar, Amanda is opening her door (ok, Tim’s door) to us all and has invited us round for a Fast and the Furious DVD trilogy night!  We’ll be watching all three high-octane films back to back so bring yourselves, some food, drinks and nibbles to share and sit back as we hopefully get to see the popcorn maker in action!  Be at Amanda’s (25 Andover Road, SO15 3AZ) for 6pm and be warned – parking round there is interesting at best so abandon (neatly) your cars wherever you can!  Give Amanda a shout to let her know you’ll be there!  (07832 119 985)

No badminton this week or next week I’m afraid, but our experts will be back out on the court after Brean, so watch this space!

Don’t forget – start saving up for the 2nd Annual Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes!  It’s on the 1st & 2nd September - further details coming soon!

Well, this Princess is off for some well-needed beauty sleep and a vodka and tonic.

That’s that for now – until next time,

Princess Phil

As promised last week here is some information about upcoming events this year (in no particular order):

Centre Parcs @ Elvenden Forest

National 5-a-side Football Competition
Andy and Tina are organising this on Saturday the 2nd of June and we are looking for people to make a team with us this year (two years ago we did make it to 4th place!)

Mad Weekend 2007

Total cost for the weekend £165 including Saturday night stay-over in a hotel (based on two sharing). If you want to Pick and Mix your own events - speak to me and we'll make you a nice price!

Hit reply and I'll tell you where to send your £59.95 (add £30 if you're not a member yet)!

As usual - this weekend we're going along with what Southampton Friends have planned - so keep an eye out for the Thursday Email by Princess Phil!

Hope to see you all (!) next Tuesday - Quayside from 8.30pm!

Good Morning/Afternoon All!

Hope you’re all well today!  Well, last night we had a good ol’ turn out and a damn good natter about anything and everything – it feels like we put the worlds to right!  We had a stranger by the name of “Paula” turn up – does anyone know her?!  Only joking!   A big welcome back to you, it was great to see you again!

We saw a shifting of the powers as Dastardly Dave fobbed off, er, I mean handed over, the folder of power to our new Chairman for the next six months, Rich, aka Duck Ed!  Duck Ed would like to invite you all to his pond meeting next Wednesday (14th) night at 7:30pm.

So, what has everyone been up to?

Last Thursday South Hampshire Quest enjoyed their very first curry night and had such a good time that they’re going to continue their “curry crawl” around Southampton over the coming months.  Watch out for further notices or see the calendar!

On Saturday evening lots of people came along (despite my failed email!) to see “Hot Fuzz” but luckily no-one was arrested!

On Sunday evening, Ian took us to the “Circus of Horrors” in Salisbury - unfortunately none of the cast got arrested although some of them really could’ve done with being locked up.  We indulged in a spot of dinner, a nice bottle of wine and a couple of pints (ok, ok, and an ice cream…) before heading off to the show.  Ian’s favourite performance of the night can be summed up by his succinct comment that:

“there was this little midget guy who shoved a firework up his ass!”

Other notable performances of the evening included a girl walking up a staircase of knives, a guy in a giant hamster wheel, a man with really stretchy skin, far too many nails through various body parts, the eating of a light bulb and a half naked rather plump girl in a glass jar (eiwh!).

So, what exciting events can we follow all that up with?!

Well, this Saturday night Shelly is taking us all out for her “Birthday Bash” to celebrate that she is now 31 years young!  We’re starting off the night in the Lizard Lounge in Bedford Place at 8:30pm for drinks and the plan is to end the night in Reflex, that oh so cool 80’s bar!  If you need any further info give Shelly a ring (07881 534 254) or hit reply now!  For the more observant among you, you will note that this Saturday was down as a “Back to the Future Night” DVD night – fear not Foxy lovers!  This has been pushed back a few weeks (to 31st March) so you won’t be missing out on any “eighty eight miles an hour!” action.  Watch this space for further details!

Get your sports gear out, your head bands on and take a firm grasp of your rackets, as this Sunday morning Rod is inviting you along to Badminton.  So far Rod, Ali and Hugh will be out on the court and they’d love to see you there too!  Please give Rod a bell (07773 106 405) and he’ll serve you up a treat! (groan….)

Another date for your diary, Saturday 28th April, we’ll be heading off with Amanda to The Joiners to see “Sponge” – I’m reliably informed that this is some form of band but Rich and Amanda lost me with their obscure band knowledge last night so if you’ve got any questions refer them to Amanda (07832 119 985) as I’ll be no help!

Now it brings me very great pleasure to announce that due to the success of last years’ event, back with a vengeance, for the second year running, Southampton Friends is proud to present the “Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes!”  Whah!!!! The crowd goes wild!!!!

Oh yes, this years event will be on the first weekend in September (that’s the 1st and 2nd September) and promises to be every bit as exciting and excellent as last year.  There are a couple of changes from last years programme - one event has been swapped for something else and the local A&E has asked that Ian S be banned from the indoor skydiving.

The fabulous events on offer are: Karting, Indoor Skydiving, a choice of Snowboarding, Skiing or Indoor Rock Climbing and to round it all off an Aerial Extreme session (think “go ape”).  The price for this super-dooper line up is £165 which includes all four events and a night’s stay over, and there is also the option to “Pick ‘n’ Mix” the activities you fancy.  A full price list will be headed your way soon so start saving up those pennies - it’s well worth it!

Phew!  One final thing – if you would like join us for Brean (Fri 23th March – Mon 26th March) we’re down to the wire, but get your £59.95 to us and we’ll see that you get booked in for an absolute blast!

Think that’s all for today – hopefully the email will get through ok this week!

Check in with you all soon!

Princess Phil

Good Afternoon All You Sun Lovers!

Our first Monthly Curry night was a huge success! The only 'down side' was that the pub had upped their curry & pint price by £0.99 :) Next month we might visit another pub - on our life long quest to find the best curry for the best price!

Circus of Horrors on Sunday was fabtastic - a great show and although I'm not too keen on nails in body parts and other eye-shutting performances, we wouldn't mind going again!!

So last night was our Grand Opening Night! Although there were less people than expected, we had a marvellous time! Bev brought the best ever chocolate cake rolls (could you bring them again sometime?) and we played a very silly game - Ali Baba! It might amuse you to find out that Ali Baba almost and his lamp certainly did end up in Ian's pint..

If you want to come along to Jongleurs Comedy Night on Friday the 16th of March - you'd better take your monies (£15.50) to Southampton Friends Club Night tonight and Matt will book you in!

On the subject of Brean - there is still space and we need your monies handed over tonight as well! £59.95 if you haven't paid at all - £39.95 if you have paid your deposit.

This weekend we're following the calendar of Southampton Friends again, so keep an eye out for the Thursday Email tomorrow! As last week it wasn't delivered to every mail box you can have a look at our website and find it there (click link below).

If you are interested in Centre Parcs, Skiing, Summer Holiday, NGOOT, Mad Weekend and the National Karting Competition - hit reply and ask or read next weeks email :)

Rest me to say - a warm welcome to Caz and Bev on this list, Biggles, go visit the forum and do your thing! And we hope to see you all Tuesday next week at Quayside from 8.30pm!

Huggles,
Kirsty

Good Morning All!

I hope everyone is bright and happy this lovely shiny morning!

Well, last night we were due to see two (yes not one, but two!) shifting of the powers, but alas my pre-prepared fanfare of an opening to today’s “Thursday Email” will go unused – for this week at least.

So it looks like Dastardly Dave will have to hang onto “that” folder for another week before he is able to pass the torch onto our new Chairman Duck Ed, (aka Rich for all those out there who are getting confused by all these nicknames) who has kindly agreed, with no arm twisting at all, to take the helm and steer us safely through the next six months.

Our second scheduled shifting of the powers is a little closer to home, well for me at least.  As part of the launch of Southampshire Quest, our General DB (aka Kirtsy) has handed over writing the “Thursday Email” to me so that she can concentrate her literacy brilliance on writing Quest’s “Wednesday Weekly”.   I’m not sure if that’s the official name of the email, but it seems like a good thing to call it for now.  So this being my first attempt I’m a little scared as I have some very big shoes to fill.  Kirsty does an absolutely fantastic (or should that be “fabtastic”?) job of the email and manages to get it all in pretty colours (which I thought I’d failed miserably to do this time but I think I may have got it!), so I’d welcome your feedback as to how I’m doing!  Please be kind, I’m quite a sensitive soul ;)

Other news from last night:

We officially have a new member who signed themselves over to us last night (whah ha hah) so a warm welcome to our newest addition to the crew, Amanda!  Also, Matt (aka Gary) is on the verge of putting pen to paper and joining our ranks so let’s hope he fills out the form and takes the plunge.

We have a busy time coming up with lots of events, so don’t sit back and relax, get yourselves signed up and we’ll see you at the following:

Tonight (Thursday), Southampshire Quest are taking us to The Giddy Bridge in London Road for their monthly curry night (every first Thursday of the month).  It’s £5 for a curry and a pint but be there early to avoid disappointment as they have a habit of running out of the popular food pretty quickly!  We’re meeting by 7pm at the latest so give Kirsty a bell (07919 286692) and she’ll keep an eye out for you.

If you fancy a bit of comedy, Matt P is booking us into Jongleurs Comedy Night on Friday 16th March.  Tickets cost £15.50 and he needs to know TODAY so he can add you to the booking.  He’s going to place a £1.50 non-refundable deposit for each person and we need the full £15.50 paid to us next Wednesday at the latest.  Give him a bell on 07749 829 632 to let him know that you want to come.

This Saturday night we’re going to the cinema!  We’re hoping to see “Hot Fuzz” at the Odeon in Leisure World as we’ve heard brilliant reports (about the film that is….) and we’ll be aiming for the 8pm showing, so meet you all in Frankie & Benny’s at 7.30pm so we can go and get tickets.  Give me a bell to let me know you’ll be joining me (07793 892 075) or hit reply and I’ll keep a look out for you!

Also, this Saturday is the Southern Area Hedge hop.  Biggles is interested in going so if you fancy going it may be worth giving him a shout to see what you can arrange.

This Sunday, we’re going with Ian to the Circus of Horrors in Salisbury and will be at his house around 5pm to sort out some food before the event!

Next Tuesday, we are all invited to attend the Grand Opening Night of Southampshire Quest at the Quayside pub!  It is hoped that we will have the non-smoking section of the pub all to ourselves and people will be there from 8.30pm, so why not come along and show support for our more mature citizens!

Finally, if you are booked into Brean final payment is due next Wednesday so please bring that along to secure your place.  If you’re not booked in, we have some people from our group going and there’s still space to join the masses, so bring £59.95 with you next week and we’ll sign you up for a great weekend! (Friday 23rd March - Monday 26th March).

Well, I don’t want to overwhelm you with any more events – this email is getting far too long!  So just a couple of brief things to mention:  Hugh is looking at going to see Vanity Fair at Chesil Theatre (Thurs 29th March) £7.50, and Charlie’s Aunt at the Mayflower (Thurs 15th March).  If you’re interested please give him a ring to let him know (07766 380 561) by next Wednesday.

Right, well I think that’s all for this week – after all that I need a lie down to prepare for the next email writing session!

That’s all for now!  Catch you later!

Princess Phil (eagerly awaiting your feedback about my first attempt!)

Goodday to all you seniors

Although we (South Hampshire Quest) only become alive from tomorrow I just couldn't not let you know what happened last night and what is in the pipeline for the week ahead..

Last night we had a pleasant natter about standing orders, our grand opening night (next week), our publicity plan and our aim for this year.

Most of you already know that we are planning on having 20 members by the end of this year of which at least 10 are new (and not recycled) ones.. And guess what? We have managed to sign up our first new SHQ member!!! A warm welcome to Debbie, who took the plunge! Only 9 to go... Staying on that subject - I would like to also extent a warm welcome to Adrian (with the funniest email address ever) to our forum! We hope to meet you next week (or tomorrow - read on!).

So what have we planned for the week ahead?

Tomorrow (Thursday) we will be going to The Giddy Bridge, London Road, Southampton for our monthly curry night (every first Thursday of the month). For £5 you'll have a curry and a pint! Be there at 7pm the latest (they might run out of food) and if you are arriving earlier or cannot find us, give me a call (07919 286692).

If you want to come along to Jongleurs Comedy Night (organised by SF Matt P) on Friday the 16th of March - please hit reply to let me know and make sure that we have your £15.50 tomorrow.

This Saturday we'll follow whatever Southampton Friends has in store, so keep an eye out for the Thursday email tomorrow.

On Sunday Ian is taking us to Circus of Horrors, Salisbury. We're planning to be at Ian's around 5pm, so we can go out (or stay in) for some pre-theatre-food.

And Tuesday.. Well, that will be our Grand Opening Night! We have organised to have the non-smoking-section of the pub (Quayside) all for ourselves (depending on how busy it is) from 8.30pm.

Please remember that if you are booked in for Brean, we need the balance next week as well. There is still space left, so if you haven't booked yet - bring £59.95 and we'll make sure you too will be joining in this fabtastic weekend event (Fri 23rd of March - Monday 26th of March).

Rest me to say, Joanna - it was great to see you and we are looking forward to your event posters and I hope to see you all in the week ahead..

Greetz,
Kirsty

Whahahaha! You're not getting rid of me that easily!

(in other words - I hit send way too soon!)

Ian is organising tickets for Circus of Horrors Sunday 4th of March, Salisbury and he would like to know who else wants to come along! Ticket price is around £14pp and we do have car space! Contact Ian (07731 106578) to let him know you want to come along today!

Matt P (07749 829632) is organising a night out at Jongleurs Comedy Club on Friday the 16th of March (Southampton). Tickets will be no more than £20pp and he needs to know as soon as possible too! Ticket price is without food, but Burger King is on the corner (and sorry to say - better food served there :)

Well, I really really hope that this was it :D

I got roped into writing up the calendar, so will be doing that and sending that one out soon!

See you around!

Hello Dear Space Hoppers!!

Biggles and Rod went to the National Badminton Competition (Rich and I were planning on going, but probably had a few too many cocktails the night before :) and had a fab time! Rod defended SF's honour and came 4th in doubles (with Adrian B). The party afterwards was well attended (according to Biggles - there was hardly any room left!). So.. We missed out on a great event :( We will do our best to be there next year (with pom-poms and everything)!

Tuesday evening we had another South Hampshire Quest Planning meeting and we are happy to announce that we'll have our Grand Opening Night on Tuesday the 6th of March from 8.30pm at Quayside! All SF'ers and Potential New South Hampshire Quest Members welcome!

Last night was unbelievably busy! We needed to get even more tables and chairs out to make sure that everyone had a seat.. Dastardly Dave had a cracking 'Catch the Pigeon' meeting, the calender for the next few months looks marvellous, the accounts look more than healthy and we have found our Chairman to take over from the 1st of March!! Poor Julie and Phil - you will be made to work the next 6 months! :)

Also a warm welcome to Karen and it was great to see Frankie again! Amanda and Matt (Gary!), may I kindly remind you to bring some monies next week as we are happy to sign you up as proper SF'ers!!

This weekend we will be going to NAGM (National Annual General Meeting) in Warwick. Badminton on Sunday will resume next week, but if you really want to have a go this Sunday - contact Rod (rod@...).

Anyone wanting to come along to Brean - bring your monies next week!
Also NGOOT has to be paid soon and we have at least 2 people interested in going (need 2 more SF'ers for a SF-team!).

Mad Weekend is going ahead as well and we have decided on the following activities - Indoor Sky Diving, Skiing / Snowboarding / Rock Climbing, Karting and Areal Extreme! More info to follow soon!

Tuesday South Hampshire Quest will be meeting again from 8.30pm at Quayside to have a natter and organise the last bits for the Grand Opening.

And Wednesday will be time for Dastardly Dave to hand over to Duck Ed!

Well, it was great to see so many people last night! And the poster drop seems to work as we have had a few enquiries already!!

Rest me to say, it was great fun to write the Thursday email (for how many years was it?), but it is time to give the keyboard to somebody else! Princess Phil will be your oracle as from next week. No worries - I will not disappear, just be moving on :) So if you want to read more of my future writings and know what goes on with South Hampshire Quest - click on the link below and sign up for the forum!

Just to let you know folks, that we have about 2 weeks to go until our
first official meeting (we are currently meeting on a Tuesday night
and discussing our future plans) - but in a fortnights time, we are
"going live" and may the God's have mercy on us all! lol

Things are starting to look very good for our project - the first few
inquiries have started coming in and the group committee is working
hard to ensure the success of our venture - but we are always looking
for other people to contribute towards the group (its going to be a
very inclusive group!) So, if you have any ideas, thoughts or just
want to lend a hand with activities and publicity, feel free to ask
any of us, and I am sure we will stitch err help you out!

We have set ourselves a target of 10 new (not just recycled!) Plussers
in our first year, which should be easy enough! I know we can be a
shining example for The Federation of how to succeed!

Anyway, over the next few weeks, I am expecting this forum to be
buzzing with ideas as we strive to be born!

I look forward to it!

Good Day Love Doves!

Dastardly Dave found the pub full with Hot Fuzz and Valentine Celebrators after parking his car last eve.. Also our newbies where there (be aware - we might ask you to join up next week :) I heard you all had good fun last weekend watching a film (can't remember which one - I went to see Pursuit of Happiness with my parents).

Something to remember (just write it in your diary):
Southern Area Hedge Hop on the 3rd of March - dress warm and dark, bring a pen, a flash light and a mobile phone (if you are not back by 10.30pm you'll better phone the rescue team!) Object of the night - get from A to C without getting spotted (just hop in a hedge).

Something way into the future (but nice to look forward to):
National Skiing Holiday - they are looking to go to Finland for £600pp. Prices might drop when enough people ski along! This does include gear hire, lift pass and half board accommodation. Lessons not included. They would love to have received your deposit of £200 around June. Contact Adrian Barnard (adrian.barnard1@...) for more information.

Something really close by (location wise):
Now Get Out Of There - A weekend full of mental and physical challenges - the perfect opportunity to show off :) First weekend of May and deposits of £20pp need to be in before the end of this month. Final balance (£32) to be paid before the end of March.

And something this weekend:

Hello Love Birds (as it is Valentine next week)!

Sooo sorry I missed last night, but my back had a slight disagreement with the laundry and the laundry won.. Heard you had a good evening though! Even Amanda and Matt (no -  Gary) came back :) And another warm welcome to Frankie, who came to check us out (poster drop, daily echo and yell.com seems to work!).

Last Saturday we had our Star Wars Party Part 2 and it was great fun! Princess Phill, you make the best desserts!! That reminds me - there is one fairy cake left..

South Hampshire Quest met on Tuesday for a quiet drink in the pub and had a Potential New Member!! It was great to meet you (again) Planet Ali!

Simon our newest Event Coordinator has been tasked with filling the diary and he will be looking into Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Jet Skiing and much much more. If you have anything you want to add to it, let him know (simonrusso5@...)!

Tim (yes, the landlord one) send me an email letting you all know that he really wants to organise a Murder Mystery again! Simon, can you please add this onto the calendar. The two previous ones were fabtastic!

So, this weekend on Saturday Biggles is going to take us all to the Cinema! Be at Benny & Frankies at 7.30pm - we'll have a drink there to decide which film to go and watch. It seems to me that maybe even a boogie afterwards is on the cards.. Give B a call (07790 039199) so he can look out for you!

And Badminton this Sunday is organised by Rod - 11.40am St. Mary's Leisure Centre! Give him a shout (07773 106405) or just turn up (but please be there on the dot, as the hall is only there for us for a limited amount of time).

Tuesday South Hampshire Quest will be meeting again from 8.30pm at Quayside to discuss what to do on our Grand Opening Night. All invited - especially the target group (30 and 40+ :)

And than it will be Valentine on Wednesday... Dastardly Evil Dave will send his Treasurer to welcome you all as he hopes to be on a date or will be at a singles night... But if Princess Phill gets a date... You might have to do with me... But then again.. I will introduce you all to So'ton Friends Speed Plussing and you might end up with knowing stuff you never knew before..

Rest me to say; the fairy cakes are all gone now :) Matt P I hope you've found the posters! Debbie, see you again soon and Bev, will you be going to Chicago next week?

Hope to see you all soon!

Greetz,
Kirsty

Hello All You Party Troopers!

Well done to everyone who helped out with the publicity run last Saturday, we must have set out at least 60 x 2 posters! Thank you to all SF members who put also put South Hampshire Quest posters up and all SHQ (to be) members who did the same for SF (whahaha.. it does make sense to me!).

Saturday Girly Karting was an amazing event! Princess Phil will do a write-up and put all our times on the website. For now the photos are added onto this list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/soton_friends/). Next time the boys will be invited to come along as well, cause we have found out that we definitely can kick some a**!!

In the evening we went for a nice meal at the Giddy Bridge, drinks at the Wine Bar and met up with the boys at The Pensioners (whatever happened to FYEO?).

It was great to see you all last evening. And a warm welcome to Matt (who we will call Gary from now on) and Amanda (who found out about us all on her own, despite having Tim as her landlord!!). Also we had the shifting of the powers and with great pleasure (and a lot of noise) I would like to tell you that your Chairman this month is - Darstardy Dave, or Evil Dave - Evil Dave who makes me sick (ask him or Shelly!). Good luck to him :)

This weekend it is time for Star Wars IV V VI from 5pm on Saturday at the New SF Inn (67 Pettinger Gardens, SO17 2WL) - bring a drink and nibbles, we will provide proper food! If there is anything you do not like at all - let me know and I might leave it out :) Let me know that you are coming along so I can reserve a plate for you (07985 633669)!

Sports On Sunday will go ahead again this weekend, but you will have to contact Rich (richard.e.morton@... / 07899 750 400) to find out where and what time so you can shuttle along.

Anyone who would like to come with us to the National Badminton Competition on Saturday the 17th of February needs to provide us next Wednesday with the money if you haven't done so already (£7 for playing and £8 for Food and Party afterwards).

For the newbies on the list (and anyone who hasn't decided yet) - the third weekend of March we are organising a fabtastic weekend away at Brean - Weston Super Mare - for the bargain price of £59.95! We need your deposits now and / or the full balance before the 3rd of March. There is still loads of space, but it is selling fast! Be there for one of the best weekends organised for Plus and meet a lot of fellow Plussers (target 200!). The Real Ale Trip offer has expired today, so if you want to go - a ticket is £7 (book in now, cause the coach is almost full!).

Some news about South Hampshire Quest (for the 30 and 40+) - advertising has been gone out, the feasibility study is filled in and ready for Royal Mail, the planning meeting last Tuesday went very well (great to see you, Jo!) and we would like to invite Quest legible people to come along next Tuesday from 8.30pm at Quayside!

Rest me to say - Ian, it might have been the best thing that ever happened to you! Tim, we need to work on your publicity skills :) and Dastardly Dave or Evil Dave - Evil Dave who makes me sick - the website looks fab!

And for the incurable nosy people - have a look at the SHQ Yahoo site:
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/southhampshirequest/

Have a great weekend & see you all soon!

Greetz,
Kirsty
