Hi Bonnie,
Good to hear from you. I’m not sure what the Db rating is
in the UK for the MOT test, but sounds like you got a good deal. I don’t
think drag pipes would be quiet enough to pass in the UK, because it is now
based on noise emissions rather than any mark of compliance. A couple of fork
seals is cheaper than a new system, but I’m surprised they are leaking
after 6/7 years. Maybe they just wanted to make you pay for a re-test?
I’ve been to the Rock a few times and I’m always
amazed at the speed of the traffic (especially the scooters) tearing around the
narrow streets. The last time I bottled out of riding up to the top because the
roads are so narrow with so many hairpin bends to negotiate on steep inclines,
besides I don’t want to get mugged by Barbary Apes!

hi brothers
just had my 2002 sporty MOT'd
ithought it would fail on my exhaust i have straight through drag
pipes from drag specs
no BSAU r EEC mark on them
the two instectors one of them a biker friend got the decibel meter
out pointed itto the exhaust at about a foot and a half from the pipe
and said rev it
my mate opened her up slowly and it measured 95db
the boss said not good enough reset the meter and the throttle was
opened again this time 98db
he checked the frame plate and said its legal
as he could not fail me on that he failed me on the yoke rubbers
stating the rubbers are worn
this weekend i'm fitting teflon ones and i'll take her back on monday
this is a totally illegal ay to perform an MOT test but hey at least
it's only the rubbers that need replacing
i would like to know if the rest of you encounter similar probs in
your country
gibraltar is ruled by british and euro laws i'd like to know wht are
the proper procidures for the tests
regards from the rock
