Techie question from somebody who does not really understand
computer programming protocols.
I thought that DecoderPro was capable of reading and writing CV's
(through a SPROG in my case) on any NMRA style decoder. I also
thought that sound files in various sample rate WAV files were
separate BUT access to them is controlled by CV values. Thus, on a
pre-recorded sound decoder, I could change CV's and thus change the
sequence of sounds. I notice that you now state that Tsunami's are
accessible through SPROG to do just that.
I am therefore a bit puzzled why I cannot access my CT SL74's.
Correction, I can access them but I cannot RELIABLY change them in
any meaningful way using the 'push this button to do that' method
which is such an attractive feature of DecoderPro.
Does this mean that CT is not using NMRA standards (the manual looks
to use the usual CV's)and Soundtraxx are? Or am I doing something
wrong here? Is this a DecoderPro problem or is there is an
incompatability between SPROG and CT in general or CT SL74's in
particular? For instance, could I use DecoderPro/SPROG to change
individual CV's to pre-determined, calculated values (which would be
a pain )or is it a question of JMRI writing a decoder file for the
SL74 (in which case I will badger them via JMRI users)?
I reiterate, I am not particularly fussed about CHANGING the sounds
themselves at the moment, only accessing and changing the control
CV's.
As an incentive, if you can fix this problem for me, off list or on
I will order a Bachrus Rolling Road set from you.
Bribery and corruption, eh!! Tsk Tsk!!
