hi david
i reseted once my sl51 from ct.
after that it gave crazy noise out of the speaker.
then I decided to just reprogram it with the decoder pro
standard settings of this decoder. and it worked again.
maybe this helps.

Subject: Results of Experimentation
Hi All,
I have now had a chance to experiment with a 'new' decoder definition
file and my trusty SPROGII.
The decoder,a CT SL74 which was functioning well enough, has now 'died'.
Symptoms are that application of track power via SPROG or Digitrax
gives four slow bleeps, a pause and three quick bleeps followed by
silent unresponsiveness. A hard reset (set CV1 to 0) is accepted but
application of track power gives the same result.
I tested the loco for shorts/faults and found none. Indeed the loco
runs beautifully on DC without decoder and with a Lenz Gold decoder.
I have good and various other reasons to send the decoder back to CT
but before I do, can anybody give me an idea of what to try next on the
basis that I am still on a learning curve here and will learn nothing
by sending the decoder to CT?
Thanks
David White
