Re: No loco detected

Tim,

The Hornby decoder is not compliant with the DCC standards and does not
issue the correct replies when programming. in effect you cannot read
any of the CVs and SPROG/DecoderPro will report "no loco". Anything you
try and write to the decoder should still be written OK but the only
way to verify is by running the loco.

Sorry, I can't help with the BR64. Have you tried both page mode and
direct mode?

Andrew

They are two different protocols for reading/writing decoders. Most modern decoeders support both but the specs are open to interpretation to some extent....

It sounds like the writes are occurring correctly but there is some issue with the acknowledgement. DecoderPro will retry accesses that it thinks have failed...

Andrew, It is my understanding the the MRC Sounder decoders do not support any kind of read back. I have both the 1662 and 1666 versions and cannot read CVs...

Ah, but there's reading and there's reading. What with paged mode and two kinds of direct mode, and even then manufacturers interpreting the specs differently,...

I can understand the 1663 reading CVs since that includes a motor drive. I have been able to read CVs from an MRC 1634. I'll have to try reading from my 1666...

I don't really care about the Bachmann decoder, it is the fact that the SPROG does not read my Roco BR64 that is worrying me. Now I have bought an NCE decoder...
