I bought my Sprog last month. I have installed it on a Dell Notebook
that already has Java and DecoderPro installed and has (and still is)
worked fine via its own USB serial interface to my EasyDCC (CVP) system.
The install worked exactly as described in the manual. The LED Power
Light comes on and stays on after the USB is plugged in and the system
recognizes that the Sprog USB device is connected.
DecoderPro launches and recognizes the Sprog on COM6. This agrees with
what Device Manager has allocated. I try to Ident a loco that is
already installed in the DP database, and also try identifying the
Decoder type.
In both cases the USB LED on the Sprog flashes multiple times but the
loco does not move at all. DP reports re the loco Ident that it has
found "16127 but that thyere is no such loco in the roster". Trying to
ID the decoder comes up with Mfg-1, Ver-1 (no such manufacturer,
decoder).
I have tried changing from Direct Bit to Paged Mode with no success
(same) errors.
I have also tried removing and reinstalling the drivers from the CD,
including manually erasing all Sprod entries from the registry. Also
with no success.
Oh yes, and I also went out and bought a regulated power supply which
is rated at 700mA at 12v. I had these same problems with a old wall
wart (also 12 volt) that had been a battery charger for a Ryobi Garden
Edge Trimmer (400mA).
My exact confid is:
Dell Celeron 2.4Ghz, 512MB Ram, Windows XP Home with SP2
DecoderPro v2.2
Java v1.6.0_07
All USB drivers are also at the most recent revision. And I have
checked that COM6 is set to 9600 in Control Panel as well as in DP.
