My Original Sprog 1 is suddenly shutting down when I use the Throttle ?

Originally I thought this was motor related to a Hornby Class 50 which I was
working on for a friend (Mine has never worked on Sprog - I just assumed it was
a current draw thing), but now I'm working on a Split Chassis Bachmann A4 and
this is the same, I can't get above 1\4 power before sporg shuts down. I know
this is not a short as when this occurs, Decoder Pro also freezes -All I have to
do is turn the power light back on.

I'm using the same power supply I have used for the past 7 years (Gosh have I
has it that long ?)

Anyone have any thoughts ?

Andy

Andy,

In DecoderPro, open the command monitor window and then try again. What
message(s) do you see the SPROG shuts down?

Regards,

Andrew Crosland

The !O indicates an overload (or at least the SPROG thinks there's an overload).

Are you sure everything on the chassis is 100% isolated where it should be?

Hi Andrew.

I have tested the loco away on my dad's layout with a Dynamisys and the loco
performed faultless. No shorts (other than when it fell off the track at the V
of a point) found at all...

So this is the second loco that stops running on the throttle, but will program
fine ?

I will try a factory fitted plug and play loco tomorrow to see if the same
happens then with Sprog to find if it has gone faulty after all these years or
if it is just a case of a dose of bad luck !

Andy

Hi all (again)

I have now tried another loco which was known to be working fine. It reads the
CV's fine, but is not wanting to run under throttle at all. No response or trips
out.

Any suggestions ?

Andy

Andy,

If you return the SPROG I'll have a look at it.
