White Stripes crash woe
By: Phil Kemp
Stripes gigs off due to car smashThe White Stripes' much-anticipated
performances at T In The Park and Ireland's Witnnes festivals have been
called off after male half of the Detroit duo Jack White was involved in a car-
crash.
Jack dates big-screen star Renee Zellweger, Bridget Jones's Diary fame.
And although NME reports she was in the car at the time of the smash on
Wednesday July 9, she is not believed to have been injured.
With an injury to his right hand preventing him playing guitar, Jack had no
option but to call off the gigs.
Earlier this week it was announced The White Stripes would be appearing in
a movie directed by cult film-maker Jim Jarmusch - and also starring none
other than Steve Coogan.
Called Coffee and Cigarettes, the movie has been described as 'naturalistic'
and will also feature sought-after British thesp Alfred Molina, throaty old
baladeer Tom Waits and iconic scrawn-bag Iggy Pop.
Pop and Waits have worked in Jarmusch movies before, as did late Clash
frontman, Joe Strummer.
