Re: [stmarysislandchurchforum] Lent Appeal

Yes you are correct Janet - when money is given from the church then it cannot be gift aided. Donations can only be gift aided if given individually to the charity & a personal gift aid form completed & sent with the cheque.

Subject: [stmarysislandchurchforum] Lent Appeal

Dear All

For those who have been doing the Lent Appeal (Christian Aid 'Count Your Blessings' ) could you bring the total monies in a clearly labelled envelope (so that it doesn't get counted in with the usual offertory money) to place in the offering tomorrow? If you are writing a cheque I would suggest make cheques payable to SMI Church and then Janet H. will send two sep. cheques to each organisation. I don't think we can do anything  about Gift Aid when the monies come direct from the church but perhaps Janet can advise us on that.

I realise some of you may not be able to attend the service tomorrow so please bring it the following week. For those who have not been following the 'Count You Blessings' sheet and would like to make a special Easter Offering (to be shared between Christian Aid and Tearfund - Christian organisations who get the help out to directly and quickly to disaster areas) please put a donation in a clearly marked envelope.

Many thanks. Janet A
