Subject: November Prayer Calendar
Hello! And once again, thank you all so much for your continued
prayers.
Attached you’ll find our day to day prayer calendar in what we
hope will be a much easier to read and follow format this month.
I was challenged this month by a sermon that I heard at a local church
about the man who had laid at the Pool of Bethsaida for many years. (John
chapter 5) Jesus asked the man who had been lying there for 38 years
waiting for his opportunity to get into the pool, “Do you want to get
well?” (John 5:6) The answer surely was obvious…he’d
been waiting here long enough in the hope that he might get into the pool when
the waters stirred…but I was challenged to wonder if this man had been
paralysed by a false hope. Here he was, unable to move, and yet he longed
to get into the pool. How could he possibly do that alone? There
was no way as he had no one to help him, and yet he still remained by the pool
side, in hope. He was holding onto a dream of getting better, something
that was and would cause a great deal of difference in his life…but this
hope, that could never be realised on his own, was preventing him from getting
on with the rest of his life.
We have come across a number of young people this month who have been
paralysed by their circumstance. Many of them hold onto a hope for the
future that will just never come true. For some this false hope is the
dream of obtaining money, for others it’s the affections of another
person, for some it’s alcohol or drugs. For each of them Jesus asks
them ‘Do you want to get well?’ But just as with the man at
Please pray that as we offer the hope of Jesus Christ to young people
this month that they will choose to move away from the things they believe will
solve their issues and discover true healing in the arms of the One who really
can set them free.
Please pray specifically for some of our young people who have been
subject to various forms of violence in the past week.
Thank you, and please feel free to get in touch with any thoughts,
words or pictures that you may receive whilst praying.
Grace and Peace,
Malcolm
