Re: smoking badly(blue)

Hello Andy,

The high revs is due to oil being 'pulled' into the engine. Diesel
engines will run on just about anything it sees as fuel, engine oil
included. The first ever diesel ran on rape seed oil.

Have you checked the intercooler as well? I sounds like the oil seals
in the turbo have gone which also means that engine oil will be sucked
into the engine.

Assuming it's the turbo there are some options. Replace the oil
seals, buy a recon turbo or one off eBaty and fit it yourself or take
it to Pug which it the most expensive option (somewhere in the region
of about £1K I was quoted once). The cheapest option should be
replacement of the seals, but it depends on how handy you are I guess.
I've never done it myself. Recon turbos probably cost in the region
of about £350.

There are two types of turbo used a KKK or a Garrett. In theory they
should be interchangable, just the pipe might need a small amount of
bending to get them in the right position. Don't forget you'll also
need new seals.

Hope this helps

Oscar

... cheers ... As other people have said it sounds like the turbo seals are passing oil, this then burns in the engine as a fuel, causing the higher revs. A...
