car won't start!   Message List

Hey, help!!!!

I initially had a problem with it running the battery flat, probably because
of my boot install, but I'll address that myself another time.

However, went to go out in it today, and it was flat. Ok, that was kinda
expected. Put some jump leads on it to start it, and it just kept turning
and turning and turning, as though there was no fuel in it. My lights on my
dashboard, when you turn the sides on, or the main beam, they get dimmer to
a point where you can't see anything, just a faint glow behind the dials.
Even in the dark the dials are unreadable. But I'm oddly puzzled now by the
fact it won't fire. I even added in more fuel from a can just incase it was
actually out when it was saying it wasn't. the odd thing about that is the
fuel gauge kept hovering around possibly the amount of fuel it was in. but
not normal hovering. Vastly up and down. Sometimes I'd do a journey of 100
miles, and the gauge would actually go up instead of down. And quite
considerably too, like 1/8th a tank or so. And now there appears to be no
fuel getting to it.

Can anyone maybe clear up what might be going on here? The car is on a flat
driveway, so the fuel hasn't sunk to the back of the system. At least I
wouldn't have thought so anyway.

Many thanks,

dan
