it could well be. as far as i could tell, there was no chip inside either
of the keys. it was just a block of plastic on the end of the key itself.
but both keys were different. there was one to start the car and, for some
reason, a separate key to un/lock the boot! i couldn't say for definiate if
it had an immobiliser or not. i'm only assuming not since it had no other
security features, or fancy electronics of any description.

I got a normal key cut which does open all the doors but wont start the engine,so i suppose it will save the wear & tear on the ignition key. the ticking noise...

I have no button on my ignition key and the spare key i got cut wont start the engine.it sounds like it wants to start but doesnt,gotta check for sure weather...
