Grey smoke on start up

My 306xtdt started producing grey smoke on start
up last December, (78k miles) it starts on 2 or 3
cylinders then after 10 sec's clears and it then runs
ok.
I have tried glowplugs, cured numerous air leaks in
the fuel lines, had the head off, injectors tested
and the injector pump tested and recallibrated all
test ok and the problem persists, it has got better
just a small cloud now and clears quickley. By the way
the compressions tested 350 on two cyls and 400 on
the other two.
Any ideas?
Note my car has never
produced anthing like the fuel consumptions Stuarts has I
get 39 to 44 with it dipping to 36 last month.
