Re: 306 xld rev counter sensor

I have found the sensor but cant see whats
holding it in place. Cant see
the small bolt you
mention. Could you clarify where it is please.

Many
thanks for your help.

> The rev counter sensor
is at the back of the engine at the end where
the
gearbox bolts on.
> It is a top dead center sensor
used on petrol engines when the ignition
timing is
set up.
> If you look to the left and down a
bit next to the black fuel filter (at
the front of
the engine) there is a plug and socket connector this
goes from
behind the dash then goes round over the
gearbox where there is another plug
and socket
connector on a bracket on top of the gearbox, to the sensor
which
pushes in to a hole from the engine side to the back of
the flywheel
(opposite side to the clutch) and
held in place with a small bolt.
> The sensor
detects a cut out in the back of the flywheel sending
a
electrical pulse to the revcounter for every revolution of
the engine.
> I also have a petrol 205 which
has the same sensor in the same position
bit it is
connected to a diagnostic plug used for setting up the
engine.
> My rev counter can be intermitant but I have not
tried to fix it yet, so
can't offer any advice on
how to test the sensor.
>
>
