ah the bulb, sorry, anyways, if there are two screws on the front of
the fog lap glass, you've to undo them, then remove the surround etc
to get in, failing that have a look under the car by the bumper, in
case there's a clip cover there.

I'll read it correctly next time, sorry ;)

According to Haynes, it's like mine, where you need to take the front
bumper off, and then remove the bolts holding it on.

Unless someone sees something I've overlooked.

When you say you turn the key on and off about 4 times, when it
eventually does turn over does it sound ok or does it sound slow and
laboured? If it's slow I'd get a second opinion on the condition of the
battery (Not just the charge level). I had a similar problem:
http://www.stuartda lby.co.uk/ peugeot306/ 306maintenance. php#battery

If when it turns over it sounds fine, I'd bet it's a faulty earth
connection somewhere.

Let us know how you get on,
Stuart

Hi,

I'd suggest checking the coolant pressure & level. The highest point of the
system is above the filling point, so sometimes it doesn't get filled, which
might stop hot water getting to the heater matrix. Check at the highest bleed
screw whether there's air in it.

I had a similar symptom on a different type of Peugeot just before the cylinder
head went, so it's worth checking.

Regards,

Alan

Hi all,

My wife's 306 (1999 "V" 1.6 Estate) washer pump stopped working
yesterday and I wondered if anyone knows which fuse feeds the pump and
/ or the relay?

Cheers.

Any luck with finding out what is causing the white smoke, or the
solution?

My 306 1.9 TD 1997 R reg is suffering exactly the same symptoms, starts
absolutely fine, runs perfectly well, just masses of clouds of white
smoke emitting from the car under acceleration? even noticable at night
on the motorway when putting my foot down to overtake! (At 80mph!!!)

Hence the reason I am conserned?

Any advice is most appreciated.

Kind Regards

We have had the same problem for years in a 306 Cab. even after a new
cable .I pull the tension spring off the clutch pedal and lightly
grease it ,this helps but is not the answer.Either they are crappy
cables or ther are to many bends in it ,I assume your car is RHD

you could try getting underneath the car and greasing the selector
linkages, they are like cup and ball joints. get someone in the car
to move the gearstick and you will see, they can get very dry. worth
a little try first anyway. good luck

a good service can make an awful lot of difference especialy the fuel
filter I have found, also I run diesel injector cleaner in my tank
every so often.I have had mine for 7 yrs , 1998 model with 118000 on
clock and it does between 40 and 45 depending on roads etc, though on
a long run it gets much higher mileage. we went from birmingham to
perth, scotland and most of the way back, well over 700 miles on a
full tank, but i was driving at 55-60 all the way to conserve fuel.ps
mine has had a stage 1 tune as well to give a bit more power

Well, I've had a 1998 1.9td Meridian hatch (since new) and, over its
life to date (71k miles), it's averaged around 45 mpg so yours sounds
just a bit thirsty:-(

I don't think there is a synchro for first, could be wrong.....

I usually wait until I'm stationary and select 3rd then 1st.

306 LX Est. (1.6)

306 Xrd (Wish I'd never sold it).

I vaguely remember my 306 was sometimes a little reluctant to engage first gear
sometime. I think I got into the habit of selecting the gear just before I came
to a stop rather than afterwards and this appeared to work ok.

Just learnt to live with it as a little quirk. Never got any worse and never had
any more problems with it

Should this happen again you might like to try: moving the gear lever to
neutral, releasing the clutch pedal, then pressing down the clutch pedal again
and then try selecting first. In my experience with other cars, this usually
allows you to select first gear.

Also, be sure you're pressing the clutch all the way to the floor.

Let us know how you get on,
Stuart

It may be the indicator switch as well as they are known to be a
problem sometimes. i had to change mine as the clicking was getting
worse. does ti get better when you move the indicator switch, try
waggling it slightly if it goes away , i bet the switch is
knackered. new one sre about £40 or more but i got a second hand one
for £15, you can always try ebay or a breakers yard.

it could well be. as far as i could tell, there was no chip inside either
of the keys. it was just a block of plastic on the end of the key itself.
but both keys were different. there was one to start the car and, for some
reason, a separate key to un/lock the boot! i couldn't say for definiate if
it had an immobiliser or not. i'm only assuming not since it had no other
security features, or fancy electronics of any description.
