Re: Hans' post on "no such thing as evil"   Message List

Dear Hans,

I found your post on "evil" very logical. To me, it is a
logic which includes compassion. It was also a far cry from the Old
Testamont "an eye for an eye " to which Gandhi added, "…. And then
the whole world would be blind." What you wrote spoke to me of a
Divine Plan far above the dialectic perception of evil. For
instance, you wrote: "I think it's better to see human actions with
compassion rather than judgement. People today can't act other than
the way they do. They will always be faced with the consequences and
so they don't need our opinion. No one is evil. We're all wayward and
marionettes of the life that has resulted from the Fall. The only
escape is the Fivefold Universal Gnosis."

What you wrote about Step 4 of the Fivefold Universal Gnosis"
clarified that Step further for me. You
wrote: "4. The New Mode of Life (i.e. USING the Light within)." I
knew my mode of life had to change; but I never considered that step
as also meaning "USING the Light within." That was very helpful to me.

You also wrote about Step 4 being the "physical step"….." You put
the instructions of the New Soul, to whom you have surrendered, into
actual practice in the physical world." I had the impression that it
was thought that there was nothing we could do for good and in
service to the Gnosis UNTIL we were fully liberated; and this did not
resonate with me. This actually seemed self-serving (thought I
realize our priority and spiritual aim has to be Liberation so that
any actions can come from a pure state and not from our dialectic
self). But I felt complete non-action was what was being recommended.
Apparently this is not so which was a great relief to me. This was
clarified for me when you wrote: "If you regard every action as evil,
you'll shun from doing anything and so you'll reach a deadlock on
Step 4." Thank you for writing that.

I found the last paragraphs and especially these two very
beautiful and helpful:

"The one and only way to change lead into gold, the only way to bring
the light into the hearts of others so that they too, will begin to
thirst for it, is to USE the light that is given to you for that
purpose. If you don't use it it will be taken away from you."

"My advice is: act! Put the Light to use for the liberation of others
in self-denying service. No other way will work."

My question now is about further clarification on action/inaction/non
action. I have read about not-doing and yet the only way to go the
path is to act. Can you elaborate on this for us and provide further
clarification for what can seem on the surface to be contradictory
though I've recently found that there is Truth beyond what has
appeared to me in the past two years to be contradictions and
paradoxes along the Path. The dualistic mind seems to dwell in
duality (at least mine has) ; but the more I study the books from the
Lectorium and surrender to the Eternal Soul, there seems to be more
space created to see and embrace the Truth behind what appeared
previously to be contradictary words.

With love,
Cathy
