I wanted to share some thoughts on some interesting aspects of the Unity and
Science of Mind teachings. Though they have not impacted me in the deeper way
the Lectorium teachings have impacted me, it was interesting to me to see their
relation to Rosicrucian teachings.
Though Unity, like Science of Mind, too often becomes only a method to add more
dialectic goods to our dialectic life though some of its teachers and followers
do delve into material which reveals deeper aspects which are not known to the
general public. For instance, Charles Filmore, the Founder of Unity, has written
on "The Twelves Powers of Man" which clearly relates to the alchemical process.
It deals with Transfiguration. After reading the Lectorium material and then
re-reading Filmore's writing on this, I understood more clearly what Filmore was
writing. It is not his most popular work or his most well-known. It almost
seems like a secret. To me, it is his deepest work.
Another interesting thing I found when I re-read Thomas Troward's work was the
last page in his Dore Lectures delivered in England at the beginning of the
century. He writes of Roscicrucian teachings! Clearly, Troward was impacted by
the Rosicrucian teachings. Based on what he wrote on that page (which by the way
ends with "Jesus Omnia Mihi", I would guess that Troward was a member of the
Rosicrucians. Troward's obviously deep interest in the Rosicrucian teachings is
another fact about which the general public is not aware though Unity and
Science of Mind both came into being as a result of the influence of Troward on
its founders. They mention Troward but do not mention the Rosicrucians.
No one mentions this which is another reason why we are so grateful that the
Harry Potter books showed up (as well as the HPFS website and this List) and so
much more of the teachings on the Path of Liberation is being revealed to the
world.
