Thanks very much for posting a reply Cathy.
Cathy:
Thank you, Loveday, for posting the question. Obviously, this List has been,
and still important to me, since I'm still posting after two years or more. I
am grateful that you openned up this discussion concerning it.
Before I respond to your reply, I want to add that I wish more Lectorium members
like yourself had posted earlier. I notice that on this List, as well as the
other Lectorium yahoogroup List, Lectorium members do not post. For those of
who were new to the Lectorium teachings and very interested in them, had it not
been for Hans and Chris on this List and the moderators and one other member on
the other List, the information about the Lectorium would not be shared with
others. While I noted that other paths were not given a great deal of validation
on the Lists, I also realize that the main reason I joined this List was to
learn about the Lectorium. Yet other than Hans and Chris, no Lectorium members
posted. When no members other than the moderators posted about the Lectorium, it
seemed to me to be a closed School with members reluctant or unwilling to share
their experiences, experiences which would be very valuable to those considering
joining. At present, I am not ready to join; but joining is still an open option
for me which is probably obvious from my continuous posting here :-)
Loveday:
I was a pupil in the Lectorium about twenty seven years ago. Most of the New
Zealanders in the School at that stage left for reasons which were complex and
involved reactions to unfortunate leadership.
Cathy:
Does this mean you are no longer a member of the Lectorium?
Loveday:
Since then I have, on and off, organized meetings and groups for those who are
interested, in the Western Mysteries, the Gnosis and the Path of Liberation.
Cathy:
What troubles me is the requirement that one must attend Temple Services and
Conferences, both of which are not possible for me.
While you set up organized meetings and groups, were you also attending the
services and conferences? Have you felt that is essential? Since it seems to be
considered essential and I cannot attend, I often don't see why I should join. I
feel the radiation of the Gnosis can reach anyone who is willing to surrender to
"the Other One" and is not only available in one place or Temple. On the other
hand, contact with the School as a Friend of the Lectorium since I could not be
considered a Student if I do not attend these services, does seem to have some
advantage. I find that I experience a kind of transmission when I am reading J.
Van R. and Catharose's books. And, I have also often felt a clear connection to
the Gnosis from discussions with Hans and Chris here and with the moderators on
the other List.
Loveday:
We have read from Joseph Campbell who writes in 'Creative Mythology'
"The best things cannot be told, the second best are misunderstood. After that
comes civilized conversation; after that mass indoctrination; after that
intercultural exchange. And so, proceeding,we come to the problem of
communication: the opening, that is to say,of one's own truth and depth to the
depth and truth of another in such a way as to establish an authentic community
of existence"
Cathy:
I can relate to the quote from Jospeh Campbell. I have found periods on this
List when "the openning, that is to say, of one's own truth and depth to the
depth and truth of another in such a way as to establish an authentic community
of existence." I feel this group could become an "authentic community" were more
Lectorium members willing to participate. It has had the feel of an "authentic
community" actually when only two or three are posting. I believe this is what
Hans is committed to happening here as are the moderators of the other List. I
addressed why those on different paths do not post; but I cannot understand why
Lectorium members do not post here. It would be so helpful for those of us who
cannot attend conferences. The moderators offer this but members do not seem to
want to participate on either of the Lectorium Lists.Since the Lists are
Lectorium based, I understand that they are Lectorium focused. I go to other
yahoogroup lists to discuss Advaita or A Course in Miracles, but I actualy came
here to discuss the Lectorium.
Do you or other Lectorium members have any ideas about why members so not post
or suggestions about the List or would they offer the reason they do not post so
it can be discussed.
Thank you so much for posting Loveday. It has helped open up the List for
discussion of the List. Hans has invited members to post and has provided this
space for them to do so. I hope we can all take advantage of that invitation.
