Is it possible to live without opinions?
I am guilty and accused of suffering from such a hindrance. Every conversation
is based around opinions, around divisions, associations and disassociations,
likes and dislikes. Would it be possible to interact with other people without
conversation? In an ideal world it would but in a working or social environment,
how can we do it?
Our very thoughts, or rather feelings are feelings of choosing between what
gives us pleasure and what does not, what is good for us and what is not. We
feel anger at "injustices" and feel satisfied when the act of justice is
fulfilled.
It is all so wrong but still we find ourselves doing it continually.
There are also moments in life when today's fact becomes tomorrow's
contradiction and the more we look at opinions the more we find that they are
just two sides to the same coin.
Many a time we argue about a point only to find that the "opponent" is arguing
about the same thing but is saying it from his personal perspective and we take
our stance according to our own personal perspective. The whole basis of the
argument was always the same yet due to our opinions we create all this
confusion.
We speak about opinions but even our ideas are built from the sum of our
perspective and so are discriminatory yet we need ideas in order to function
within society.
How can we live within a social context without opinions when our very nature is
polarised by opinions? We are obviously going to express these opinions when it
comes to the crunch.
Today's fact becomes tomorrow's contradiction and one can be aware of this and
can constantly be vigilant about this "human phenomena" but we will still find
ourselves dividing and distinguishing in all strata's of life. This is a
reflection of our biological condition because in order for us to move and
breathe and to basically live we constantly have to measure, to judge, to push
away and to accept things for the well being of our own bodies and their simple
functionality in nature.
The only conclusion that can be drawn is that if we do push our ego's out of the
way and let the life force, the Gnosis or whatever you want to call it flow
through then we can overcome our limited natures. Why? Because if we understand
and fully begin to breathe in the very essence of life, which always was, is and
ever will be then we will not be afraid of losing our physical bodies because we
know that life is bigger than that.
We know that life is bigger than us as individuals. Death is just the illusion
of losing the body and the personality but beyond that life ever is. If I die
then the world doesn't stop, it keeps going and so does the rest of the
universe.
So what are our so much treasured opinions in the eyes of the ever flowing life
field? Are they really that important? Not at all because in nature, today's
truth becomes tomorrows lie, why because it is only a part of something whole
and not the whole and absolute in itself and in not being whole it cannot
sustain itself as being part of something.
Still, having said all this, I cannot imagine how to put all this into our
social context. Putting what we have just spoken about into practise is much
easier said than done. I do not believe it is impossible but it is hard.
Let us pray that the light can always guide us through these situations.
