Tristan,
Appreciate your post.
I did mail Suunto's helpdesk on Sunday as I couldn't get data to
upload but no response from them.
I will contact you tomorrow.
Cheers,
Jonathon

Sorry to see a couple of user of Suunto T4 having problems. As a company who not only sell but also USE these Suunto devices we always welcome our customers to contact us directly if the have a difficulty operating their new purchase. If you are both BHIP Ltd - www.heartratemonitor.co.uk customers, then please either mail or call us for technical help. Just quote purchase ID or date of purchase, then we can help you get the most from your Suunto HRM
I echo what Ann says, I've just purchased a T4c, having had a
cardiosport heart monitor before.
The user manual is one of the most user hostile I have ever read.
Makes me want to send the thing back.

I am finding it very frustrating as I can't wait to use it at my gym.
Thanks
thankyou for your help!

Just had confirmed over on the SuuntoDOTcom user group that a single
ANT HRM (heart rate monitor) belt can be picked up and monitored to by
TWO t4 wrist watches at the same time.
As ANT is really just bluetooth with bells on, and Garmin use the same
ANT chipset as Suunto, it could well be possible for Garmin and Suunto
computers to feed off of one ANT HRM belt.
I'm looking at this set up...
Suunto/Garmin ANT HRM belt (only one belt worn)
Suunto t3/t4 on the wrist
(gimme my Training Effect and be smaller than the FR305!)
Garmin Edge 305 on the shoulder of my rucksack
(gimme real GPS with distance and Altitude!)
So any Suunto t3/t4 users out there who ALSO have a Garmin FR305 or
Edge 305 care to try this out for us all?!
thanks
Hi all
If you want a RECORD of your HR while swimming, the NEW Suunto Smart
Belt will record ALL HR data internally. This can then be downloaded
to the PC TRAINING MANAGER s/w
http://www.heartratemonitor.co.uk/suunto_watches_hrm_accessories.html
The SMART BELT can also be used OUT of water like a NORMAL
transmitter

After much consultation with Suunto UK I was informed that only the
analogue HRM's will work whilst swimming (T1 & X3 etc.)
I decided the features offered by the T3 were more important than the
ability to use whilst swimming.

I was underwhelmed by the strap on the t4, but it fit my wrist
straight out of the box so no need to mess about with it. After a week
I'm getting used to it, although I may decide to get the bike pod in
which case a new strap will be called for.
My previous hrms were Polar (M52 and S610), so a big HR% display was a
pleasant surprise, although now I've started using the coach I use a
big TE display instead. The lower 'next TE' display is fine, but the
training mode pace cue is a bit small - the fact that a magnified view
is necessary in the manual is a bit of a giveaway.
The manual says the watch wont talk to the belt in water. Since I did
use my polar hrms when swimming, not being able include swimming in t4
training will be a bit of a let down if this is true :-(

I was warned that I might not like the strap - and that was quite
right - comfortable enough on the wrist - but impossible to put on a
bike - So another £15 secured a better strap - easy to change shame
it didn't come as standard as the watch is aimed at cyclists too!!

Sorry misded the first few paragraphs of my post :
Recieved my t4 this morning and took it out for the first test run.
This is my first Suunto having used a very basic Polar in the past.
Once powered up I added all my settings with great ease and found my
way round the menu's, the menu system took about 2 minutes to getting
use to.
The main watch unit itself is slimmer than I thought and very well
built and looks good. A quality product ! The watch is very cool to
use as an an everyday watch with great styling.
Getting the unit on my wrist; I found it very tricky as adjusting the
fabric based band I found very difficult to get a good fit. Took a lot
of adjusting to finaly get it right but then your left with slack
fabric on the inside, dont want to cut it just incase I want adjust it
later.

Im very uncertain about the wrist strap as it doesnt feel quite right
with the main watch unit. I would have preffered a normal strap as
found on the T1's. With the T4 being the more expensive watch of the 3
new watches it seems a shame that both types of straps werent included.
In action the unit was very to easy start and the chest strap is a
very well built and easy to put on. The size of the watch face makes
everything really clear to read at a glance while training. I am very
impressed with the amount of information available in real time.
Started using the coach facility which seems very intuitive and time
will tell as I follow a program as to its effectiveness.
After training reviewing the logs is incredible, you have a real
wealth of detail about your training session. The totals section I can
only judge after a number of sessions. If your into your numbers this
is definately the watch for you.
So all in all the watch I feel in terms of initial impressions is
superb and am looking forward to my next session allready. The wrist
strap Im going to have to reserve judgment and see how it feels over
the next couple of weeks. On initial thoughts and 1 session with the
watch I feel I may change the strap but I will give it the benefit of
the doubt (will give Suunto feedback about the wrist strap after a few
sessions). Would be very intersted in other users thoughts on the
strap, so please do post.
Would post pics of the watch but I dont have enough permissions yet.
Before buying the unit I found it difficult to judge its size as I
never saw a pic of it on someones wrist or with another object to be
able to judge its size (hadnt seen the unit for real either).
May start a blog somewhere about the watch as I use it over the next
few weeks if people would be interested.
Just to offer a big thank you to Lucy for her assistance with produce
choise - and to say that I have heard from "Train Smart" site that
that they will be adding Suunto products to their TrainSmart system
and anticipate this will be available Dec/Jan (in addition to the
Polar Products they support now).
At the moment the site is free to use - (I have not tried it) but once
out of the Beta phase there will be monthly charges
info@...
No idea if it is worth it - but feedback would be welcome
Mark
Has anyone successfully paired their bike pod with
their T3 yet?
I am having some trouble with mine and looks like I
will have
to send it back!
