RE: [the_kirklees_crusaders] Re: Attendance on Sunday 17th

Hi Bob

A gentle introduction through DBA may be good for me as well as my son. My wargaming has generally been through computer games where the program does all the work. Unfortunately I no longer seem to get my fix this way as fancy graphics seem to be taking over from strategy.

I don’t know if Ian mentioned but I have Maria at Mount and Blade painting up an Early Imperial Roman DBA army for me. That will not be ready until sometime in April. I am also keeping my eye on Ebay and have purchased 2 Early Imperial Roman commands of 12 elements each but they are all foot. One is in red and the other in blue so should be fine for me and my son to practice with. I had hoped they would have arrived to bring along on Sunday but they have taken 2 weeks to come from Germany so far.

I will see you Sunday.

Robert

Robert,

I've been "eMulling" this one over with Ian, and we've decided to
bring along an extra 2'x2' board and enough extra figures to assemble
a couple of DBA armies; my Hindu Indians - nice and colourful, with
the added attraction of Elephants (one of the reasons I got into
Ancients in the 1st place)and some other bits and pieces. They won't
be historical opponents, but they will provide an opportunity for one
of us to run you and your lad through a game of DBA if you'd like. If
he remains interested I'm sure we could arrange some child friendly
gaming sessions; In addition to my lad, Robin's boys are interested
in Wargames, as are a couple of lads who live near me..
I look forward to meeting you on Sunday.
