We had an excellent first evening at our new venue, which meets our clubs needs
brilliantly.

Our first game was a DBMM 350 points aside Post mongal Samari with mongol
allies, verses Timurids who hire John Harkwoods White company.

The game was very much in the balance however the late arrival of the Timurid
flank march gave the Samari/mongaol alliance the advantage of 3 commands against
2. The White Company was shattered by the mongols who also saw off a unit of
Timurid cavalry.

The Timurids gradually destroyed the Samari central command to broken but the
pike block from the Samari right wing broke the Timurids centre.

So well done to Guy et al.

Next week there should be two games on and we there is space for another game.

Games commence circa 6 to 7:30 pm and finish 10:30 to 11 pm

Kind regards

Robin

Glad you guys enjoyed it! If there's anything at all you folk need, please drop
me a line or pop into the shop for a chat.

Although we don't carry a whole lot of wargaming stock in store, we have access
to a number of distributors and our turnover time is pretty good - generally, we
order our new releases on a Tuesday and if something is in stock with our
suppliers, it'll be with us on Wednesday. So if there's anything at all any of
you need, please don't hesitate to ask. If the group starts picking things up on
a regular basis, I'll look into offering all of Kirklee's Crusaders some sort of
discount.

Take it easy,
Mark

I have added the version 9 rules into the files section and here are a few notes
for the upcoming Version 9.5.27 which I am still working on.

I dug out my "Wooden Ships & Iron Men" rules to see how I could
improve/complicate/"historicalize" it even further...

Expanded the Ship sizes to include "Tiny" Ships. Included historical equivalents
(1st, 2nd, & 3rd Rate SOL and 4th & 5th Rate Frigates).

Amended and added a couple of broadside fire mods…

"RAKE": Is now a DOWN 1 due to being a much smaller target. However, any damage
caused is DOUBLED.! A Stern Rake always causes at least 1 damage if within 4"
range.

"WINDWARD BROADSIDE": Being down wind of a Target gives you UP 1 to hit due to
angle of ship as wind tilts it over. However, the stronger the wind, the higher
the trajectory arc will be. So Ships closer than Wind Strength +1 in Inches may
not be targeted, unless in contact. Conversely, the maximum a ship can fire
LEEWARD is reduced by Wind Strength. Adds tactical flavour with controlled
complexity.

"AT ANCHOR": A Ship can lower its anchors within 12" of a coast or island and
gain an UP2 for a steady fire-platform,

I have also sharpened up a few mechanics and will probably include some examples
of play.
It's a never-ending work-in-progress and things will keep appearing as I read
more about the methodologies and tactics of the period.

Cheers
Ian

My idea's did not work as well (or at all) as I would have liked.!

So I'm going back to the original PK system concepts: Basically, only one die is
rolled and totals are compared by `difference' not `multiples'.
Even and Odd results still have an effect.

Also…
1. I added two of the "Repairs & Maintenance" Cards into the standard pack
rather than as Specials, which replaces one of the "Squadron Morale" cards so we
can replicate to some degree the `rallying back' of UI in the standard game.
2. I have differentiated between "Full Sail" and "Battle Sail".
3. Changing the name to "Sea of Battle" (SoB)

New files uploaded in a folder called "PK-SoB".

Cheers

Chaps.

The only setting which does not allow one to join the group , i.e. Public
access, is the "links" page.

I added a new photo and will experiment with HTML code in the introduction at
some point.

If anyone has anything they think aught to be added to the intro text, please
let me know.

I just uploaded a file with a bit of basic info regarding the above.
There is repetition in the document, but it gives the bases sizes and figure
numbers, costs of elements and even an idea of the combat effectiveness of
elements.
I considered 25/28mm seeing as how most of us have some figures, but for my
campaign game, I am still going with 10mm figs - probably Pendraken
(http://www.pendraken.co.uk/fantasy.htm).

Not to dissapoint those who were expecting me to change my mind about this
campaign idea, I was looking at my Warmaster Fantasy Battle book today.

I wondered if there was a PDF on the internet and lo and behold there is.!
Complete with comprehensive Army Lists.

Surprisingly enough it's on the Games Workshop site.!
Have a look...

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat1290025&categoryI\
d=1100014&section=&aId=5300011

As a game, it has some rules & systems to suit everyone I think...

A 2D6 Command and Control system.
Multipe dice combat system (not as many as FoG)
Simple combat system with minimal dice modifiers and minimal tabletop markers;
Stand removal with sufficient damage.
Large Army list range and simple points system.
Multi-Racial (the Warhammer Fantasy setting - I'm certain most of us know at
least something about that).

It does mean that new figures would be required, but like I said at the start
I'm gonna get a few armies. A Unit compises 3 stands. The stand size I was
planning on using is 40x20. 4x 10mm mounted or 9x 6mm mounted per base.

So, until the next change of mind, I'm going to give them a read and maybe try
them out in a few weeks time.

Cheers
Ian
