(openPR) - Gary Moore hört man ja bekanntlich bei seinen Konzerten
meilenweit über die Verstärker hinaus. Im Rahmen seiner Deutschland-
Tour setzte er in Stuttgart/Winterberg noch eins drauf und holte
sich stimmliche Unterstützung in Form von Jonny Boyle, dem
Leadsänger von The Urge, auf die Bühne.

Als Support des legendären Rockstars hatte die Band aus Newcastle
vorher bewiesen, dass sie überzeugenden Rock'n'Roll spielt und damit
für beste Stimmung im Saal gesorgt. Jonny befand sich bereits
Backstage, als Gary Moore ihn aufforderte: "Komm mit auf die Bühne,
sing was ich singe und rocke mit mir!" Das ließ sich der Leadsänger
von The Urge nicht zweimal sagen und folgte Moore, um mit ihm
zusammen eine erstklassige Performance zu bieten. Nicht nur das
Publikum war von dem Auftritt der beiden begeistert: "Es war das
Highlight meiner bisherigen Karriere!", so Jonny nach der Show.

Am 2. August wird The Urge wieder als Support von Gary Moore in
Offenbach auf der Bühne stehen und im Oktober auch die Hallentour
des Rockstars begleiten. Ab Mitte November startet die Band dann
eine ausgedehnte Clubtour, die durch mehr als 20 Städte führen wird.

Unfortunately the stage in Siegen was pretty high and big, and I just had my cell phone with me :(

I will put up the videos on Youtube next week; maybe also on Yahoo. Didn't check them yet; no idea how bad the sound is.

It was an Open Air, again supporting the Hooters. Great audience there,

Tuttlingen - Wahrscheinlich war das Konzert von Gary Moore gestern
abend beim Honberg-Sommer noch in Stuttgart zu hören. Der
Altbluesrocker hatte nicht umsonst beeindruckende Verstärkertürme
mitgebracht.

  Von unserem Redakteur Dieter Kleibauer "Und - wie war's gestern bei
Gary Moore? " - "Jaja." "Ich meine, wie war's denn so?" - "Soso." -
  "Wie es gestern abend WAR?!" - "Ich versteh' dich nicht - der Moore
war so laut."

Stimmt. Gary Moores Roadies sind nicht zu beneiden - sie müssen
deutlich mehr als bei anderen Bands schleppen. Marshall-Verstärker
zum Beispiel, dicke Kisten, die einen Lärm erzeugen können, der laut
der deutschen Lärmschutz-Verordnung bestimmt nicht zugelassen ist.
Aber das hier ist schließlich Rock'n'Roll. Wer wollte, konnte sich
Ohrenstöpsel in die Gehörgänge stopfen. Aber so eine Gitarre, die
soll sich schließlich in die Ohren einfräsen, der Bass auf direktem
Wege in der Unterleib fahren.

Der Ire Gary Moore ist auf eine sehr eigene Art und Weise old
fashioned - sogar eine gute, alte Orgel steht auf der Bühne, nicht
so ein neumodisches Keyboard. Doch beherrschend ist natürlich Moores
mal wieselflinke und hendrixige, mal schleppende und schwere
Gitarre. Das alte Narbengesicht hat immer noch eine der schnellsten
Hände im Westen - aber wenn er eine dieser finsteren Balladen
anstimmt und von den üblichen "troubles" singt, dann ist das
schwärzester Blues wie aus dem tiefsten Süden der USA. Und
vielleicht, drängt sich der Eindruck auf, sind diese Moritaten sogar
das stärkste Element der Show. Da quält sich einer mit seiner

Das Terrain für Moore hatten, wie schon vor den Hooters, The Urge
bereitet, die aus dem Land kommen, in denen der Rock'n'Roll aus
Schweiß, Tattoos und ehrlicher, harter Arbeit besteht. Das Quartett
um John Miles jr. stapelte ein Gitarrenbrett aufs andere und machte
Druckdruckdruck - dass John Miles der Sohn des John Miles ist, der
mal in einem früheren Zeitalter "Music (Was My First Love)" gesungen
hat, merkt man nicht unbedingt, auch wenn er mal einen Riff aus dem
größten Hit seines Vaters einstreut - aber textlich stimmte die
Botschaft des alten Herrn allemal.

Tuttlingen - Sie sind wieder hier, in ihrem Revier: "The Hooters "
haben am Samstagabend zum dritten Mal auf dem Honberg-Sommer
gespielt. Laute Klänge einer Trossinger Hohner-Harmonika eröffneten
das Konzert der "Hupen", wie die Übersetzung ihres Namens lautet.
Und wie könnte es anders sein, das Zelt war ausverkauft.

Von unserem Mitarbeiter Benjamin Haas "Die Hupen" - der Bandname der
legendären US-Band soll der Spitzname für die Trossinger Hohner-
Harmonika sein, aus der die ersten Töne des Konzertes erklangen -
oder hupten.

Der Bezug zum Landkreis Tuttlingen kommt also nicht von
ungefähr. "Die Mütter sind nicht älter geworden und die Töchter
sehen jünger aus", sagte Eric Bazilian vor dem Konzert im Interview
auf der Aktionsbühne im Biergarten. Sie selbst sehen zwar älter aus
als bei ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1980, die Energie war jedoch jung und
frisch wie in den Glanzzeiten der frühen 90er. Eingängiger Rock mit
Hymnen-Charakter, Ska-Rhythmen beim einen oder anderen Lied und
hitzige Gitarrensoli sind ihre Markenzeichen. Und mit diesen
bringen "The Hooters" ihre Fans ins Schwelgen, Klatschen und Feiern.

Spätestens nach dem vierten Lied "Day by Day" aus dem Jahr 1986 war
die Stimmung richtig angeheizt. "Die nicht so guten Lieder spielen
wir einfach gar nicht mehr ", sagte Frontmann Bazilian. "Johnny B "
ist zurück Und so wurde ihr Gastspiel ein Feuerwerk aus Chart-
Erfolgen und anderen Hits. "500 Miles", "Twenty Five Hours A Day"
und der weltbekannte Erfolg "Johnny B" waren natürlich mit im
Programm. Seit 2001 sind "The Hooters" wieder vereint. Angespornt
von einer erfolgreichen Tour durch 17 deutsche Städte, setzen sie
seither die Band-Geschichte fort. 1995 hatte sich die Band getrennt,
als ihr Erfolg in den USA schon erheblich nachließ, jedoch der
Zuspruch in Europa ständig wuchs.

Bereits die Vorband war ein prominenter Höhepunkt. Der Sohn des
legendären Blues-Stars John Miles versetzte mit seiner Band "The
Urge" das Publikum zu Beginn des warmen Sommerabends in gute, alte
Rock-Zeiten. "Wenn du die Vergangenheit nicht kennst, kannst du die
Zukunft nicht rocken", ist das Motto der Gruppe aus Newcastle. Schon
ihr erstes Lied brachte Schwung unter die Zeltplane.
