I've uploaded some wmv clips from the British and German films which you can download from MediaFire.com and watch on your computers: check out our links page for details. I hope they will provide some amusement.
Jerry Desmonde (who played Parker in the British film) and Dunja Movar (who played Lissy Haverkamp in the German film) both committed suicide in the 1960's.
My apologies for the delay in producing some screen captures from "Der Engel, der seine Harfe versetzte"; I've started working on it and hope to upload some soon.
Edward Evans and Sheila Sweet, who play father and daughter in the British film, also acted together in "The Grove Family", Britain's first soap for adults which was first broadcast by the BBC in April 1954. A film spin-off, "It's a Great Day", was made in 1955.
Sadly the 1951 BBC TV play is not known to exist, assuming that the live production was recorded in the first place, but hopefully there are some stills from it out there. Who knows, someone may even have made a domestic audio recording of the soundtrack, as was the case with the lost "Doctor Who" episodes.
I have uploaded some audio clips from the British film production and 1995 Thirty Minute Theatre radio production "The Angel of Islington". My apologies for the low sound quality, but I hope you will still enjoy listening to them.
I have also uploaded scans of the first chapter of the English novel, which has been out of print for many years. I was going to scan the whole book, but I'm a little worried about copyright. I got my copy from the excellent Glyn's Books international booksearch service (see our links page).
Hello and welcome to the group. I will be uploading some screen captures and other goodies soon. If anyone has the original short story or a photo of Charles Terrot, scans would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
