The band has beena little up and down into the UK and no sign of
Stateside appearing today. However, openings (although brief) have
seen EA8 (canary Islands) 7X (Algeria) UX3 (Ukraine Russia) 4Z
(Israel) 9H (malta) and near Europe too. Not bad for a few hours working!

Nice one thanks Thomas!

Sounds as if some guys were running a Net on the
Calling Frequency.
There was someone trying to call CQ but he was
covered up by the Net.
http://www.vhfdx.net/ map suggests two regional pockets
of activity.
Anyone hearing anything?

just recently moved to this house and to tell truth its a very very
small village and neighbours seem very stuck up so to keep the peace i
just put up my hombrew 47 - 200 mhz log per which seems to work well
on all the bands it is designed for apart from b3 tv {175 mhz) which
you really need a 8 or 9 el or a stack for that band i have put in the
photo section my antennas at my old qth you cant see the log per it
was round the back of house but i would love to see neighbours faces
if i put that lot up again lol 73 and hope we get some props to the
west ... david

Hi David,
I have been out this morning, just back now and no CT beacon on 70mhz
here :(
I have a 4el Trident for 4mtrs. 6mtrs is buzzing though with CT0SIX,
CT1ART and CS1RLA all coming in strong here.

Let's hope for some 'across the pond' conditions in a few days time!
Good luck with the event, I hope it goes well!
JJ G0KSC
Hello everyone,
The Carolina DX Association is proud to announce that N4BX will be
activating Fox Mike 13, this weekend for the upcoming CQ WW VHF
Contest, July 19th and 20th. Fox Mike 13 is on the list of rare grid
squares, and is one of the rarest grid squares on the east coast.
The CQ Worldwide Contest is a twenty seven hour, two band contest,
featuring Six Meters and Two Meters. It begins on Saturday July 19th
at 1800 UTC (2PM EDST) and runs through Sunday July 20th at 2100 UTC
(5PM EDST).
N4BX will be operating from the Southport, NC, Ferry site and all
locals are encouraged to stop by and visit us, but especially contact
us on the air.
We need your help, you can work N4BX on both Six Meters and Two
Meters on the following frequencies :
· Six Meter SSB USB Upper Side Band 50.137 + -
· Six Meter WSJT JT6M Meteor Scatter
· Two Meter SSB USB Upper Side Band 144.212 + -
· Two Meter WSJT FSK441 Meteor Scatter
· Two Meter WSJT JT65B EME Moon Bounce
· Two Meter FM FM Simplex 146.550 simplex
Over the years, there have been many operations to FM 13, BUT, to
break the record for the most contacts made from FM 13, we need your
help.
Point your antennas towards Southport, NC and put N4BX in your logs.
QSL Manager is K4DXA.
For more information about our N4BX operation please visit the
Carolina DX Association website: www.cdxa.org

Earlier this year I wanted a project to build but did not want to make
too many parts myself. Also, I wanted a 6 mtr beam with gamma matching
to ensure lower out-of-channel noise etc.
I purchased 2 4el Sirio CB beams for 11 mtrs as these were cheap and I
knew the resulting 6mtr beams would be over engineered for their use
(boom, elements, holders etc) being much smaller than the original.
The amazing YU7EF produced the designs for converting into 3, 4 and 5
el yagis from these two beams. I built the 5el and the 3el out of the
2 4el 11 mtrs beams. All data diagrams (including gamma re-sizing etc)
are in the attached file.
Enjoy!!

band was open on 49 mhz tv anyway to latvia hungary etc there was too
many coming in at once to record anything.... lets hope it swings west
now 73 david
Another good site is www.ON4KST.INFO
this one has aging lines so you know how long ago the opening was (or if it is
current), it has a chat screen to speak with other users currently on that site
and also, collated data for 50mhz from all major clusters.
Definitely worth a look!

I saw your Log ant. looks very good. Currently there is an opening to
Central Africa (which can be seen on the clusters) I am hearing 2
beacons here albeit in and out of the noise. No DXTV from that
direction currently?
Whilst I know it is going to be a little late in the season, I will be
active next week from Villa Rica, near Atlanta GA until September.
I will be fired up with a 5el M2 beam pointed at EU during that time.
Hopefully, something will happen out of the ordinary!

Hi David,
To be honest the first and only time I have heard GM this year was
earlier this week! This said, I have seen on the clusters GM/MM
reporting Scandinavia quite regularly (although that is nothing to do
with North/South) and also Stateside/Carribean.
Let's hope we get something a little extra over the next 4 weeks or so!
JJ
this must be the worst season in 15 years of tvdx that i have had but
i have noticed that the south of the uk are reporting the band wide
open its usually dead or patchy here in ayrshire and when the band is
open there have only been a few openings to the east and usualy its
just a south path here either EA or CT or both. this year i have had
only a couple of openings into the caribbean but the video tones on
55.248 mhz etc have never reached over a s4 and i need a s 6 - 7 - 8
for a weak picture but again a tvdxer in the south of the uk has had
pictures and audio. i have had no north american openings yet but
HOPEFULLY the seasons not winding down just yet. how are you guys
finding this season compaired to others .... 73 david

After yesterday, today was a little dissapointing. A few patchy MS
openings and a quick burst to EA8 this afternoon for around 20 minutes.
the band opened once more for around 40 minutes a little after 9PM UK
time, this time into Northern Scandinavia. Hopefully, the 'Real'
Summer E's will be back in play tomorrow!!
