I remember you. You're the woman with the nice web site. Yes, I did subscribe to
your group, but haven't had any messages and forgot about it.

I live in Cumbria and have OCD (diagnosed in 1998). At the moment, though, I try
not to introduce myself as someone with a mental illness. Not because I'm
ashamed of it or anything, but at one point I was almost going around as Mr OCD
and I think it is a mistake to define ourselves by our illnesses. But I think
it's okay to mention it - OCD - where appropriate, as in this case.

I knew someone with BDD 3 or 4 years ago and he wasn't a bad looking lad. Of
course, people were always telling him this, and the more they told him, the
worse his BDD seemed to get.

I am also a very tidy person. I sometimes think being /that/ tidy isn't healthy
and I need to get messy. It's easy to say, though, and harder to do.

Finding some people who understand (our problems) is a good idea, I think. It's
hard if you think your boat is drifting at sea and you're the only person in it.
Well, you're not the only person in it. There are plenty of others who are in a
similar situation. And I think with mutual support we can decide which direction
to point the boat.

<thinking aloud> Oh, nice metaphor... the boat I mean. Maybe I should have been
a poet? :-)
