Hello again Emily...good of you to reply. It's strange
to find other people who suffer from similar problems
don't you think? When I first had depression about 4
years ago I did see a phsycotherapist for a while but
we didn't go too in depth about my problems. It was
the therapist that first recognised my problems. At
that time I didn't want to take the therapy any
further and thankfully I did get better. Next time
round, when OCD was finally recognised by my GP he
wanted me to have Cognitive Therapy but I couldn't
commit myself. I don't know why but it's something I
would like to explore sometime in the future. I'm just
not ready. To be honest, I am a lot better than I used
to be but it's likely I will take medication for a
long, long time. In answer to your question I take
Seroxat (or Paroxetine as it's commonly known). It's
had a lot of bad press and is hard to come off but it
works for me. It treats my depression and OCD. When I
first became depressed my friends and family all knew
about the medication and as far as they know, I no
longer take it. Only my boyfriend is aware that I'm
back on it. Pretty tough when you can't hold a drink
but can't explain either!!!
Hope that's helped a bit....
Cheers, Lyndsey
