Hi,
It will all work out well... you just have to go through some bureaucratic
maneuvers to get where you need to be. Just be patient, nobody will
institutionalize you. Electric shock therapy or any other type of extreme
treatments will never happen, I promise you. In the end, this will all be worth
it : )

I went to my appt and have been referred to the local mental health
service to see a pschyotherapist initially. My doctor said they are
not able to refer patients directly to CBT, but have to go through
the mental health service. This feels scary too. My mum went into
hospital the first time she had depression and her husband at the
time gave permission for her to be given electric shock therapy.
The last time she had depression she was terrified that this would
happen again and was very scared of the medication because one type
gave her horrible nightmares. I suppose I'm scared that I will end
up in hospital too :-(
